Equi is looking for a versatile investment professional to assist in our new manager due diligence process and assist in developing internal trading strategies. This role is split into two key areas.The first involves overseeing the daily operations of manager sourcing, where you'll collaborate closely with our Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and other investment team members. You will play a critical role in building and refining strategic frameworks as we scale our rapidly growing assets under management (AUM).The second area focuses on identifying profitable internal investment opportunities, with the potential to execute these strategies yourself.This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about both the art and science of investing, with the chance to manage hundreds of millions-and eventually billions-of dollars. Additionally, you'll be an integral part of a small, dynamic team committed to developing innovative financial products at Equi.Own: what is this person singularly responsible for?Support rigorous and comprehensive due diligence of alternative investment managers including primarily hedge funds, hybrid strategies, and private creditDue diligence includes analysis of strategy, team, portfolio construction, risk management, and organization, as well as reference calls and operational due diligenceOwn all aspects of our due diligence process including manager callsmeetings, investment memo creation, material requests, and other ad hoc tasks as neededProactive sourcing and identification of investment opportunities utilizing our data-driven approach as well as your network and contactsManage our investment pipeline and prioritization of managersDrive our critical data management and portfolio monitoring process including owning our fund tracker spreadsheets, performance attribution, risk dashboard, etc.Ongoing monitoring and reporting of current managers by tracking their monthly reporting, attribution information, exposures, risk reports, and public filings, and conducting manager meetingsAd-hoc data requests and reporting to support other teams within Equi, including investor reporting and updatesLeverage your expertise in various strategies to identify approaches that could be effective internally. Contribute to the research and development of internal strategies, while also bringing your own innovative ideas to the table.Assist in executing systematic internal strategies by implementing rules and guidelines established by the investment team.Assist: what will this person be involved in, or collaborating with other individuals + teams on?Work closely with the fund operations team, legal, and compliance both during due diligence and on an ongoing basis to gather necessary documentation and dataWork with product and engineering to build manager-facing tech, to help automate diligence, reporting and communicationsAssist with portfolio optimization and decision-making process on which strategies to make a priority.Collaborate closely with the investment team to conduct due diligence on internal strategies, ensuring they meet or exceed the performance and quality of external strategies.Evaluate new product launches in partnership with sales, operations, finance, legal and complianceKnowledge: what experience does this person need to possess?3-5+ years of experience evaluating alternative investments, ideally focused on hedge funds or liquid alternatives, either as an allocator (endowment, foundation, pension plan, family office etc.) or in an advisorconsultant role1-3+ years of direct trading, strategy development, or execution experienceStrong analytical skills and exceptional writing capabilitiesStrong collaborator and consensus-builder, since this is an extremely cross-functional roleSelf-starter with high level of attention to detail and process-orientationBachelors or Master's degree with strong academic recordCFA would be considered a plus
