Major responsibilities include collecting demographic and Insurance information at point of registrationEssential Job Functions:•Accurately register and document patient demographic and insurance information in the Health Information System. Registrations take place at either the registration desk or bedside.•Follow up appointment's schedulingreferral process.•Analyze and verify insurance benefits and educate patients on costs related to their insurance.•Refer uninsured and underinsured patients to Outpatient or Inpatient Financial counselor to be screened for insurance eligibility or enrollment or for other assistance.•Perform point of service collections and process patient payments transactions.•Explain Patient Consents, HIIPA laws, Patient's Bill of rights and answer questions the patient or family members may have regarding their registration or appointment.•Scan Patient ID, insurance Card(s), referral forms (if applicable) and consent forms obtained from the patient into document imaging system.•Refer accounts requiring escalation to Supervisor in timely manner.•Attend all necessary training sessions to effectively perform the day-to-day functions of the position.•Perform duties, as assigned by the Patient Access Manager or Supervisor.Minimum Qualifications1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and 2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience andor experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; andor performing related customer service activities. Skills Requirement: Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
