DescriptionThe Learning Commons Manager, Content Support: Math, CSISIT, and Learning Commons Technology, will support the Learning Commons to help ensure the academic success of all Pace students. The Manager's major focus will be within mathematics, computer science, information systems, and information technology. In addition, the Manager will implement and manage technology used within the Learning Commons for both campuses. The Manager will support the areas of content training, supervision of part-time paraprofessional and student staff, creation, implementation, and assessment of formal content support programs. Position Duties Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the Learning Commons by actively working with the professional staff of the NYC and PLV Learning Commons. Create and maintain Content Support policies and procedures within the Learning Commons.Work with faculty and staff across the university to support undergraduate student learning. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, observing, supervising, and evaluating of peer content tutors and part-time paraprofessionals. Create, manage, and market study sessions and exam reviews designed to support students. Develop and supervise a content training program for peer content tutors and appropriate training for part-time paraprofessionals. Conduct consultant orientations and weekly professional development meetings.Work close with faculty and department chairs from Seidenberg and Mathematics for content support. Work close with all faculty members to develop and deploy VR scenario learning. Conduct consultations with students as needed.Supervise use of the data management system. - Develop and support Learning Commons staff with use of information systems such as but not limited to, MS Teams, Sharepoint, D2L Brightspace, and TracCloud. Supervise a team of student simulation specialists. Communicate student progress with university stakeholders. Prepare reports and engage in assessment of services for the Learning Commons. Contribute to strategic planning for the Learning Commons. Attend andor present at regional and national conferences with consultants. Actively review current scholarship, pedagogy, and best practices in learning support. Create a professional development agenda for the summer months. Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time. RequirementsMaster's degree required in information systems, computer science, mathematics or related field with excellent overall academic achievement in the major.At least 1 year of supervisory experience in an educational setting.Previous teaching or tutoring experience required, 2+ years of teaching or 5+ years of tutoring.Preferred background in developing and deploying information systems. Previous coding experience required. Desire and ability to motivate and engage students.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. General knowledge of educational theory and practice is required with specialization. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational skills. Experience using academic technology and learning management systems effectively to support in-person and online teaching and learning.
