In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doingStrategyDevelop a deep understanding of HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) and the complexity of the institution's physician model and in collaboration with the Vice President and Chiefs, explore a range of structural and organizational options to create the vision and strategic plan for the divisions.Effectively communicates a vision for the Hand and Upper Extremity and Foot and Ankle Service Lines cultivating strong relationships and working confidently with staff at all levels of the organization to create an environment rooted in partnership and collaboration.Partner with Service Chief to ensure service alignment and connectedness across all regional and national markets including Manhattan, Outer Boroughs, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut and West Palm Beach, and Naples, Florida.Work closely with the Chiefs, Surgeon-in-Chief, VP, and Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement a Service physician recruitment plan to accommodate the growing demand for services while meeting the needs of physicians for clinical activity and clinical research.Develop and execute Service Line strategy related to clinical care, research, education, and innovation in coordination with chief.Assess the governance structure and work with service leadership to put in place enhancements that will ensure the achievement of service goals.Remains current on industry trends and novel approaches within service lines.Operations & Physician Office SupportWork closely with the Chiefs to ensure that operations are consistent with the overall clinical and academic service goals and support the individual and collective career goals of the faculty.Support Service Chief with block time management.Develop and manage budgets and oversee revenue streams, seeking economies of scale that will ensure the continued success of the services.Assist physicians in understanding and managing costs.Prepares budgets and approves purchases for both operating and capital expenses; reviews financial reports and investigates financial variables or trends that appear curious, (e.g. overtime, supplies and services, etc.)Establish and maintain processes to improve patient care, increase efficiency and ease the burden on physicians' office staff through programs such as implementation of various patient access initiatives, centralization of insurance prior authorization for medications, pre-surgical screening centralized scheduling, and representation of Service providers at our locations across the tri-state area.Oversee Physician practices within Hand and Upper Extremity and Foot and Ankle providing strategic direction to team members on physician practice operational issues along with ensuring ongoing operational success of the clinical and business initiatives related to physician practices.Responsible for talent management including performance management, professional development, and succession planning of direct reports.Work collaboratively with physicians to evaluate opportunities for practice growth and support implementation of recommended strategies. Lead performance optimization efforts including physician productivity and quality assessments, practice assessments, and scheduling template optimization efforts.Serve as the division's liaison to the hospital to help streamline the patient experience, manage patient throughput more efficiently and support the full continuum of care.Work with Service Lines leadership to continue efforts to reduce length of stay.Partner with OR leadership on OR efficiency, optimization, and cost reduction efforts.Work closely with the Project Development, Planning, Design and Construction Department on renovationrelocation projects and new construction to support the growing needs of the Services, ensuring that new space is created to support the vision and goals of the Services. Responsible for approval and coordination of practice relocations when needed.Create and maintain a highly effective and efficient infrastructure through best practices and a continuous improvement mindset. Set direction on performance improvement initiatives, designing and overseeing project plans, deliverable preparation, and stakeholder alignment to ensure successful execution of strategic and operational priorities.Ensures compliance with relevant organizational, professional, and regulatory policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.Cultivates a culture of belonging, inclusion, and accountability throughout the department.Physician Partnership & EngagementBuild and maintain allegiances with service chiefs, physicians, and their office staff. Be willing to be viewed as their champion while maintaining a focus on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service Line. Provide oversight on meeting material being shared in physician and office staff meetings, ensuring content is catered, appropriate, and value-add.Plan and lead weekly Service Chief meetings, ensuring productive use of time and execution on key takeaways.As the Hand and Upper Extremity and Foot and Ankle Service Lines liaison to the organization, work with physicians, Nursing, Finance, Marketing and Public Relations, and other departments to provide resources and information about the division as needed. Partner with the HSS Foundation's Development Department on fundraising initiatives.Build rapport and instill confidence with the Vice President, Chiefs, physicians, senior leadership, and staff throughout the organization. Serve as the point of contact for escalation of issues between the Service and senior leadership.Provide strategic direction as an active member of the Service Line committees on Patient Care and Experience, Clinical Research, Business, Innovation, Education, and other committees as needed to represent the needs of each Service.Support service level business development including healthcommunity outreach strategyRequirements5+ years of work experience in healthcare, consulting, or a related field. Consulting experience is highly preferredBachelor's Degree required.
