In addition, reach out to us if you are a candidate whose disability prevents you from being able to complete our online application.Position SummaryThe Leadership Experience Coordinator participates in the implementation of Girl Scout programming, ensures safety of the campers, and encourages the success of every camper. The Leadership Experience Coordinator is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities to help instruct the youth leadership team grow leadership skills and gain the ability to display them. Mariposa Day CampMariposa is a cozy, park-like property in the foothills of Altadena in the San Gabriel Valley. It includes a large grassy space, a wooded area with water misters, and a campfire ring with an adjacent amphitheater.The camp operates with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist in the direction, supervision, and organization of youth leadership throughout the camp to meet the intended outcomes. Apply basic youth development principles in working with youth leaders through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. Assure campers and youth leaders are always properly supervised. Be aware of and implement safety guidelines. Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for youth leaders within the mission and outcomes. Lead and assist with the teaching of activities. Actively participate in all program areas as assigned. Provide for the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities. Assist in all camp program activities, as directed.Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Provide daily care to each camper within your supervision, including recognition of personal health needs. Ensure that teen leadership campers receive their medications as directed by the Health and Inclusion Supervisor. Be alert to campers' and staff needs and assist them with personal andor health problems and discuss with Health and Inclusion Specialist andor Program Supervisor when appropriate. Be a role model to youth leaders and staff in your attitude and behavior. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to youth leaders and others regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver special programs and other all-camp activities and camp functions. Attend and participate in daily meetings. Provide check inout support and provide outstanding customer service to families. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be 18 years of age or be a high school graduate by the start of camp.Must be available for 10 weeks of day camp (June 18, 2025 - August 22, 2025) and training dates that will be scheduled prior to camp.Must possess and maintain a valid CPRFirst Aid Certification throughout the position's employment dates. Training will be available.Must have documented experience teaching or interacting with youth program.Must submit a basic health history form as set by the American Camping Association. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically. Must possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
