The Senior Tax Manager role is a hybrid position based in the Chicago area, requiring 2-3 days of in-office work each week at our Glendale Heights office, with Wednesdays as a designated in-office day. This leadership position involves engaging with all levels of management and personnel, fostering collaboration and ensuring smooth tax operations. We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with exceptional accounting expertise and the ability to manage complex tax scenarios. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strategic thinking, and a dedication to excellence in all aspects of tax management.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for maintaining the company's tax rate tables for all states, cities, and counties in the US, ensuring the company is properly assessing and collecting sales and using taxes from our customers and vendors. Responsible for the timely preparation and remittance of sales and use of taxes to the appropriate jurisdiction. Responsible for certain month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis as assigned. Manage the audit processes as related to tax matters, providing auditors with reconciliations and financial informationActing liaison with our tax accounting firm for income, franchise, and other tax matters. Handling personal property tax returns in various statesCollaborate with HR and Licensing personnel inside the company to ensure Climate Pros is properly registered with the states and counties we do business inAssisting in the integration of acquisitions on related tax mattersHandle the annual registrations for the company with state-registered agentsMonitor and make necessary corrections to the company's credit reports through Dun and Bradstreet and Credit SafeCreate and maintain documentation for continuous improvement of internal control processes.Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Skills, Education, and CompetenciesBABS in Accounting or Finance.CPA preferredMinimum of 3-5 years' experience with multi-state sales and use tax filingsDemonstrated leadership ability through leading teams or being part of teamsDemonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacityProven analytical skills coupled with intellectual curiosityAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsThe physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the job's essential functions.
