About the Role:As a Masters Swim Head Coach at Chelsea Piers Fitness in Chelsea and Downtown Brooklyn, you will help teach, guide, and inspire swimmers ages 18 - 99 through high-quality instruction that fosters an appreciation for engaged coaching and for swimming in the company of supportive teammates. Better swimming and better team culture result from authentic coaching and building appropriate relationships with our members. We are a 2-site team with over 125 swimmers. At practice, you will determine appropriate sets for all swimmers, and change and modify for swimmers' abilities, interests, and limitations. You should analyze swimmers' techniques and determine levels (and direct lane assignments), educate swimmers on various techniques and styles, and oversee training for the practice. You will be the face of the team and club for the general membership in the pool area while you coach practice. Responsibilities:Develop a Master Swim Curriculum Host member tryout sessions Leads at least 3 Masters swim practices per week with at least one being in a different location Hire and recruit appropriate coaches and find substitute teachers Collaborates with the Group Fitness department on the performance of the program and changes to the schedule Audit coaches Taking attendance and reporting it in Microsoft Teams to the Master's Swim Team Coaches GroupLearning swimmers' names, and "swimming stories"Maintain consistent, clear, effective, and positive communication with all Chelsea Piers fitness members and swimmersEnforce our club and team standards: no diving, showering before entering the pool, no spitting, no yelling, no intentional physical contact with other swimmers, and nothing over the top or unreasonable from coaches or swimmersQualificationsQualifications:Lifeguard CertifiedMaster Swim CertifiedCoached competitive aquatics and have a thorough understanding of stroke technique.Create skill-level appropriate practices and have excellent communication with swimmers, staff, and the community in strict accordance with safe sports regulations.Create a safe physical space using best practices in aquatics, and identify interpersonal issues between teammates before they become a problem
