The mission of East New York Farms! is to organize youth and adults to address food justice in our community by promoting local sustainable agriculture and community-led economic development. We have been working with youth, gardeners, farmers, and entrepreneurs to build a more just and sustainable community since 1998.Principal Duties:Design and implement holistic, engaging and quality urban agriculture programs, incorporating, healthy living, agriculture education, youth development, leadership and community advocacy around food justice.Lead the daily operations and management of the Program to ensure that all licensing, funding and UCC standards and expectations are met.Hire, supervise and train staff. Provide andor oversee the weekly individual supervision to full time staff and biweekly team meetings.Supervise and support staff including Assistant Project Director , ENY Youth Farm Manager, Compost Program Manager, Pink Houses Farm Manager, and Garden Educator to perform their jobs to meet the highest standards of quality.Work with staff to set priorities in their work and Identify opportunities to professionally develop staff that builds on their professional goals and supports high quality programming.Train and supervise a team of Organizing Interns to lead the Youth Food Justice Network.Serve as liaison to funders, coalitions and regulators of programs.Pursue relevant opportunities to partner with local, regional and national organizations and networksMaintain contractual and regulatory compliance.Manage budget and petty cash account.Submit monthly program Board Reports to the Division Director.Work with Division and Development Director to support annual fundraising plans by contributing to grant applications and building relationships with funders and donors.Coordinate data collection for use in narrative and financial reports to funders.Serve as a part of the UCC Leadership team.Collaborates with program directors at UCC to inform and educate neighborhood residents on UCC programs and services to optimize awareness within the community.Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.Perform other duties as assigned.Position Requirements:3-5 years experience in urban agriculture, youth development, andor community building.2-3 years experience supervising a team.Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community (people of different ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds).Comfortable working outside in all weather and capable of lifting 40 pounds.Drivers License required.Familiar and proficient with G-Suite (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Gmail) and computer applications.Supervision:Reports directly to United Community Centers Division DirectorCompensation:$63,000 - $71,500 annually, dependent upon experience.We offer a very competitive benefits package.Work Environment:The position works in an officeschoolUrban Agriculture setting during the workday. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, walkie-talkies, cellphones, photocopiers, and standard equipment such as pens, safety scissors and tape dispensers. This role will spend time outside.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift andor move objects up to 40 pounds.
