Job Description:THE OPPORTUNITYThe Publicist role is an opportunity to take ownership of innovative publicity campaigns for both children's and young adult book authors and illustrators with the goal of driving sales, increasing visibility, and promoting the Scholastic mission. This fast-paced position requires the ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines. The Publicist will communicate regularly and effectively with authors, members of the press, booksellers, and the Scholastic marketing, editorial, and sales teams. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful publicity campaigns and excellent writtenverbal communication skills. This position will report to the Director of Publicity.RESPONSIBILITIESExecute publicity campaigns for approximately 15 titlesauthors per seasonPitch national, regional, and trade industry media contacts for reviews and interviews for print, broadcast, and onlineResearch media contacts, create press materials, and complete mailingsPlan and arrange travel for multi-city author tours with comprehensive tour schedulesPitch authors for speaking opportunities at consumer festivals and industry trade showsCollaborate with marketing colleagues on campaign strategy and tactics About ScholasticFor more than 100 years, Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) has been meeting children where they are - at school, at home and in their communities - by creating quality content and experiences, all beginning with literacy.
