In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. Whether you are early in your career or an expert in your field, you will find HSS an innovative, supportive and inclusive environment.Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterpriseFull-TimeMedical AssistantScope of Duties:Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams within the Westchester office and supporting the Ortho Now program (RegistrationFront Desk, Physician Practice, Research, EMG, TMS)Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations, reviewing patient statuses and assisting in obtaining patient data required for the rooming functions in EpicSupport the department by assisting the physicians, nurses and other personnel by obtaining vital signs, lab specimens (skin biopsy, venipuncture) and EKG's as neededPreparing specimens for the lab and ensuring hand-off to courierFoster efficient patient throughput, deliver excellent customer service, and establish and maintain an organized professional environment.Assist the physician in treatments and procedures and ensure physician orders are completed in a timely manner.Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers.Participate in our supportive and team-oriented environment.Prepare patients for exams and orient patientfamily to the environmentAssist with disinfecting exam rooms and other clinical work space between patient useAssist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent examsAssist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medical history, vital signs, pulse oximeter readings, heightweight, temperature, etc.)Assist with stocking exam roomsEnsure patient care areas are neat and presentable Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and staffRespond to patient, visitor, and staff inquiriesAdditional responsibilities as directedMinimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent to at least one year of experience as a nursing attendant, EMT, PCT, CNA, Medical Assistant, or previous member of armed medical corpsBLS CertificationNon-Discrimination PolicyHospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
