Description Position at MTA Headquarters Job Title: Senior Operations Analyst - Payroll (Represented)Salary: Min: $ 49,562 - Max: $82,603DeptDiv: FinanceBusiness Service CenterSupervisor: Manager PayrollLocation: 333 West 34th StreetHours of Work: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (8 hoursday)Deadline: Opened until filled*This position is represented by the Transportation Communications Union (TCU)SummaryThe purpose of this position is to administer activities and process transactions for the Payroll area.ResponsibilitiesMentor, coach and support other team members as appropriateManage individual assignments and expectations. Assist with prioritizing team assignmentsIntegrate across teams to document, research and resolve intermediate issues and errors as assignedDevelop and update operating procedures and training materials as neededMaintain more complex level of process, functional and technical knowledge and participate in training to continue to develop such knowledgeGather, validate and maintain data and other transaction inputsGather forms and track status of assignmentsEnter transactions in PeopleSoft and service request management toolRetrieve, index and review scanned documents and formsProvide satisfactory customer service by receiving, analyzing, researching and seeking resolution to more complex inquiriesUnderstand when to resolve or escalate to supervisorPerform support cyclical processing and period end activitiesComplete assignments as delegated by SupervisorComply with MTA and BSC policies, practices and proceduresUnderstand the MTA and BSC vision including how individual responsibilities fit into the long-term strategiesEnsure that all assignments are completed with the highest quality and within agreed-to Service Level Agreement guidelines and Key Performance Indicator targetsAdhere to team budgetIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives as assignedParticipate in user groups as necessaryIdentify, document and review input to knowledge management toolQualificationsRequired:Possess specific work experience in Payroll area andor experience in Finance processingAbility to work with, train and coach other team membersWorking knowledge and use of PeopleSoft or related database softwareAbility to process requests consistently with general supervisionAbility to prioritize problems and promptly resolve or escalate when necessaryStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate across the BSC at all levels within and outside the organizationStrong time management skills and ability to manage individual assignmentsStrong attention to detailAbility to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentialityPreferred:Understanding of MTA Finance policies and proceduresFamiliarity with performance metrics and ability to meet identified targetsWorking knowledge of service request management toolsWorking knowledge and use of office productivity tools (e.g., MS Outlook, MS Office applications) and web-based applicationsEducation and ExperienceRequired:High School Diploma or GEDMinimum 4 years of Payroll processing experience OR equivalent combination of education and related experience will also be consideredPreferred:Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree with relevant experience in Business or related fieldShared Services experience preferredOther InformationPursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commisssion on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").WAGE PROGRESSION:Step 1 - New WP 60%Step 2 - New WP 70%Step 3 - New WP 75%Step 4 - New WP 80%Step 5 - New WP 85%Step 6 - New WP 90%Step 7 - New WP 95%Step 8 - New WP 100%Equal Employment OpportunityMTA and its subsidiary and affiliated agencies are Equal Opportunity Employers, including with respect to veteran status and individuals with disabilities.The MTA encourages qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, including military service members, to apply.
