Job Type Full-timeDescriptionABOUT THE POSITION:The UD Team SBYD Assistant Coach will use hisher passion and expertise in sports, health and fitness to change young lives. As a member of the UD Team, Assistant Coaches will use the power of sports and physical activity to engage, educate, and energize at-risk youth. Using an SBYD framework, where life skills are taught in conjunction with sports skills, Assistant Coaches will use sports to help struggling students to re-engage in the academic community.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:Urban Dove Team Charter School (UD Team) is a distinctive network of sports-based high schools catering to over-aged, under-credited youth. We fuse a robust academic curriculum with sports-based youth development, ensuring our graduates receive a diploma, a stepping stone for higher education, and essential job skills.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervising students as needed during meals, dismissal, and school-wide eventsSupervising students during physical activitiesAssisting in the coordination of special eventsInitiate contact with families or alternate contact persons as requested by staff and assist in delivering messagesMonitoring student transitions in the hallways and throughout the school building and effectively communicating with appropriate staff about student behaviorDaily one on one check in with studentsConducting aggressive student outreach and ensuring that student attendance is in place and reportableProviding students with continued support and feedback (both academically and socio-emotionally)Working with parentsguardians to ensure involvement in student's academic careerKeeping accurate documentation of student's progress towards their goals and next steps in the process Requirements Knowledge of coaching and sports based youth developmentDemonstrated ability to "multi-task" and deliver high quality workCommitment to the UD Team mission and core values of Teamwork, Leadership, and CommunicationCommitment to the use of restorative practices and a strength-based, youth development approach to student issuesAbility to function well as part of a team and work independentlyMust be team-oriented, with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a passion for serving at-risk youth, and a sense of humorOUR MISSION:Urban Dove energizes, educates, and empowers young people through our network of UD Team Charter Schools serving over-ageunder-credited high school students.
