This study, an exciting collaboration between the NYC H+HKings County, NYU, and University of Michigan, aims to test a system of care for Black youth that combines universal suicide risk screening, and an intervention that combines safety planning with strategies to enhance linkage to mental health services. Under the direction of the site Principal Investigator (PI) with support from the research team and service area leadership and clinical staff, completes requested research screenings, assessments, youthfamily education; intervention delivery; documentation.SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRecruits and outreaches to youth and familiesAssesses study inclusion and exclusion criteriaObtains informed consent and assentAdminister research questionnaires and performs clinical assessmentsDelivers manualized mental health intervention in emergency room settings with fidelityCoordinates intervention delivery with research staff, clinical staff, youth and parentscaregiversCollaborates with the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the youthCoordinates individualfamilyteam communication to review discharge plans and help support a safe discharge back to the community.Provides youth-family education, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention, as appropriate Participates in departmental cross training programs, social work meetings, performance improvement activities, and weekly study supervisionWorks collaborative with the research team and hospital staff Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorPromotes a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace which enhances and furthers the mission, vision, and value statementWork independently with supervision on research and clinical activitiesConduct projects including the collection and evaluation of data related to vulnerable patient populations and prepare and present reports related to these service populations.May provide direct clinical supervision and guidance to social work staff, schedule staff, read and review staff work, evaluate work performance andor maintain time and leave records.This is a grant funded position. The above description covers the duration of the grant 2024-2027.Minimum QualificationsFor Assignment to Level III1.
