Middle School PE & Health Teacher

2024-2025We are looking for dedicated, mission-aligned teachers across grade levels 6-8. Reporting to our Principal and in collaboration with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT), you will support our efforts to ensure high academic standards while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students. ResponsibilitiesYou will ensure that all students are recognized, supported, and embraced for who they are as learners. You will: Develop culturally-relevant and inquiry-based curriculum Plan interactive lessons that elevate the voices of students and promotes demonstration of learning through multiple modalitiesAssess and accelerate student growth through data-driven practicesCreate an inclusive environment that fosters self-advocacyCollaborate with teams to learn with and from each other, to set high expectations across the school, and align instruction to the needs of your studentsAnalyze and study student work to identify trends and misconceptionsMonitor student academic and social-emotional growth data to inform cultural practicesMaintain ongoing communication with families that include actionable feedbackShowcase student achievement through exhibition, publication, and other celebrationsQualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is requiredA valid New York State CertificationProven track record of planning lessons with clear learning objectives and a means for assessing whether those objectives have been metStrong organizational and communication skillsDemonstrated content knowledge, including experience planning lessons aligned with New York State Next Generation State StandardsDemonstrated success in tailoring instruction to the needs of diverse learnersAbility to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goalsExperience working with educational technologyBilingual in Spanish is a plus
