Job Type Part-timeDescriptionMake a SPLASH at the SJCC! We're looking for fun and enthusiastic people to teach Water Aerobics in our heated indoor, year-round pool! As a Water Aerobics Instructor, you are responsible for creating an inviting, engaging, and energetic water exercise experience for SJCC Patrons. We are particularly in need of an instructor from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, andor Friday.Some of the duties and responsibilities of a Water Aerobics Instructor are to: Teach scheduled classes, beginning, and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down. Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates, exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Prepare appropriate equipment and music for each class. Ensure that safety standards are met Can work independently. Follow and enforce all pool standards and rules. Work a variety of shifts. Substitute for coworkers as needed. Support the emotional and social wellbeing of participants through positive behavior management and supportive interactions. Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC. Must be 18 years of age at the time of application. RequirementsTo be successful as a Water Aerobics Instructor, you should have: 2 year's experience as a group fitness instructor. Current CPRAED Certification (Adult and Pediatric), or willing to complete course by required deadline(s). Ability to swim and lead a group in cardio and resistance exercises. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations. Knowledge of relevant safety practices. Ability to coach and empower swim students. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with colleagues and SJCC guests. Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting. Ability to exercise good judgment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations. Knowledge of relevant safety practices.
