Job Description for Safety EngineerThis position report directly to a Project Manager of Ascension Construction SolutionsAscension Construction Solutions has a job opening for a full-time Safety Engineer primarily for Data CenterHyperscale Construction. Other projects could include utilities, tunnels, waterwastewater plants, transportationhighway and vertical construction projects.ACS provides:Full health benefits (medical dental and vision)Cellphone reimbursement401K PlanVehicle allowance when applicablePRIMARY FUNCTIONSPerform all functions with honesty and integrity.Educate project staff and trades personnel on EH&S programs, policies and procedures and provide training on safe work practices.Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance with ACS policies, regulation, and owner contractual requirements.Promote safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, and Ownercontractual requirements.Coordinate preconstruction meetings with Project Safety Manager and SuperintendentGather pre-task plans and Job Hazard Analyses for all project contractors based on contractual requirements.Conduct safety meetings and issue minutes of meetings as directed by the Project Safety Manager.Maintain a log of each subcontractor's toolbox safety meetings held with their employees.Provide safety reports to Project Safety Manager as required.Conduct safety audits and recommend corrective action per Company policy and work with Project Safety Manager to issue reports of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate resolution.Understand the public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in the proper safety procedures.Assume additional responsibilities as directed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSClimb permanent and temporary stairs and laddersStand for long periods of timeUse of construction personnel hoistNavigate active construction sites consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of materialUse of vision, hands and fingersSpeak, hear, stoopbend crouchLiftcarry a minimum of 30 pounds Be able to wear standard PPE, i.e. hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glassesgogglesWORK ENVIRONMENTMud, gravel, rutteduneven ground etc.Exposed to outdoor weather conditionsExposed to heavy machineryLoud noiseTripping hazardsEnvironmental hazardsEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSAssociate's degree or greater in Safety is preferred5 years of experience in constructionHigh School diploma or GED requiredQUALIFICATIONSQualified candidate must have a valid driver's license and retain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommend corrective puter skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite program. Demonstrates fundamental management, leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writingKnowledge of Construction processesKnowledge of OSHA and other applicable Safety StandardsPrevious experience as a safety professional is preferred, but not required. Must be able to apply effective management techniques to maximize project performance. Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is essential.Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills. Possess a personal vehicle for use during the day for transportation to and from and on or around a job site.Ability to read and understand plans and direction given in English language.Ability to write in English.Basic math and computer skillsAbility to create and or edit documents using Microsoft Office products such as Word or ExcelAbility to create and or edit documents using Google products such as Google Sheets or Google DocsAbility to create and or edit Outlook and G-Mail emails with attachmentsDESIRED CERTIFICATIONSCompletion of Industrial Training International's Lift Director & Critical Lift Planning Course OSHA 501 or OTI certifiedSafety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC)ACS will assist in obtaining certificationsCAPABILITIESAbility to build relationships with and influence other functional areasStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced construction environmentHighly developed verbal and written communication skillsOrganization and time management skillsProblem-solving skills with ability to perform root cause analysisProficient with Microsoft Office applicationsProficient with Project Management Tools Exposure to Contractor payment processing requestsMeet travel requirements for job assignmentsThis position is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.ACS is an equal opportunity employer.
