Job DetailsJob LocationPeterson YMCA - Huntington Beach, CAPosition TypePart TimeSalary Range$16.00 - $20.54 HourlyDescriptionThe YMCA of Orange County is looking to hire part-time Child Care Staff in the Huntington Beach area. The Child Care Staff will work at a YMCA on a school site and would be responsible for maintaining a positive controlled environment while meeting the needs of all children. Staff will assist in planning and carrying out a curriculum based upon the needs and interests of children 5-12 years of age. This includes general supervision to ensure safety, assisting with program areas and general maintenance.The key roles of this position include: Plan, implement, and oversee curriculum-aligned activities for participants, including homework assistance, social-emotional learning, arts and crafts, STEMSTEAM, and physical education.Foster youth success through mentorship, guidance, and encouragement, actively encouraging program engagement and participation.Conduct ongoing assessments of programs, services, and activities to uphold participant safety, maintain program excellence, and always ensure a well-maintained facility or classroom environment.Support participants in making positive choices, implementing appropriate disciplinary actions when needed to create a stable and nurturing atmosphere conducive to their municate and work effectively with participants, staff, parents, school personnel, and community partners.Attend and actively participate in all required staff development workshops, meetings, and trainings.Record and maintain daily attendance and other documentation as required.Preferred availability: Part time shifts- 1:30pm to 6:00pmBenefits of working with the Y:Tuition Reimbursement*FREE Gym MembershipFREE Workout ClassesFREE Pool AccessFREE Training and CertificationsFREE Virtual Health Care Solutions (Teledoc)Program Discounts *Up to 100 percent off child care programsYMCA Retirement Fund*Community ImpactQualificationsRequirements & Experience for Teacher Be over the age of 18Experience working with children ages 5-12, in a daycare, after-school program, or camp required. (6 months for Teacher 2 and 1 year for Teacher 3Teacher 2: 12 units in Child Development or a related field.Teacher 3: 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development anor Education. 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, and Music. 15-hour preventative health practice certifications within 90 days of employment.
