Role Summary, Responsibilities, and RequirementsROLE SUMMARY The Enrobing Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality, performing minor preventative maintenance on the equipment, and will participate in timely changeovers. The role will operate the enrobing machines, maintain all aspects of the enrobing process, and follow all production formulas according to customer requirements. The enrobing process includes daily prep work, melting coatings, verifying operating tempering, and maintaining the proper temperature of coatings. The operator will also need to adhere to the 5s (clean and organize), changeovers (SSOP), HACCP forms, and report on the consumption of materials. The operator will communicate and document efficiency standards while reporting inefficiencies to supervisorPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain a working knowledge of the enrobing operational proceduresAdjust functional devices and control instruments on enrobers and tempering units for proper operationDetermine, by regular inspections, the repair and maintenance necessary to prevent breakdownsFill chocolate melters, as neededMaintain daily line specification sheetsMake necessary repairs on equipment where maintenance is not neededAssist maintenance and sanitation associates with making equipment or product changeoversAssist production supervisor with production associate assignmentsEnsure lines are in good working order on an ongoing basis and report discrepancies to supervisor andor department lead Understand and complete daily production schedulesAwareness of production amounts throughout runs to meet or exceed scheduled amountsEnsure all duties are carried out in a safe and conscientious mannerAssist supervisor andor department lead to ensure that associates in department are properly trained and working productivelyEnsure raw materials needed for runs are adequately stocked at all times and rotated properlyEnsure that work area is clean and orderly at all timesEnsure that department and equipment are shut down and locked properly after each runEnsure product quality conditions and requirements are consistently met and documented according to customer requirementsEnsure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is being followed, which includes housekeeping and cleanliness practicesEnsure metal detection units are functioning properly before during each production runMaintain a positive attitude (Can Do and What Can I do to Help) to the positionFill out material worksheets and coating material worksheets for all material used to complete the finished productHave QA sign off on all product changeoversTurn work order packets into supervisor upon completion of the scheduled quantityConduct scrap reporting and daily inventory of big holding tanks according to proceduresFill out production report based on completed quantity information from line leadpackerInform supervisor when propane tanks are low and need to be reorderedComplete labor report and collect temporary employee labor reports for supervisorPerform department shut down proceduresPerform other duties as assign by leadsupervisorPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust wear proper personal protective equipment including uniform, face mask, hair net, latex gloves, bump cap, earplugs, and safety shoesWill be standing on concrete, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning for an extended period of time Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsRequired to work weekends during peak season andor overtime when neededKNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma, GED andor equivalent educationDemonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors, and managersBasic math, communication, computer, and problem solving skillsAbility to convert measurements into weightKnowledge of linear measurement, percentages, and ratiosAbility to communicate in English and work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work with computer systemsMust have mechanical skills to troubleshoot andor make adjustments as necessary to ensure a quality productWork well under pressure, able to meet multiple deadlinesGood attendance is a condition of employment
