Our team is responsible for the Property and Casualty lines of business inclusive of products and professional liability. We work through a network of retail brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on a strong service proposition.Location: This position will be based out of our New York, NY, Boston, MA or Conshohocken, PA office. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunityWhat you'll be doing:Underwrite across various lines, including Property, Auto, General Liability, Products Liability, E&O, Package, Umbrella and Workers' CompensationAssess and prioritize new and renewal submissions to identify profitable opportunities aligned with business and corporate goalsAnalyze and price coverages, structures, and exposures for individual risksUtilize data analytics to enhance underwriting efficiency and streamline workflowApprove quotes, binders, and invoices, ensuring compliance within authorized limitBuild strong customer relationships while maintaining a risk-aware and compliance-focused culture, emphasizing proactive monitoring and sound risk decisionsEnsure underwriting pricing and discipline to achieve profitability goals, adhering to guidelines and managing Profit & Loss for Life SciencesGrow the business portfolio by fostering existing relationships and developing new clients and contribute to building a dedicated industry teamParticipate in broker meetings and attend networking events to drive business growthOrganize production underwriting activities, including travelmarketing and target production plansEngage with various organizational levels to drive collaboration, trust, and strategic initiativesContribute to competitive intelligence efforts by tracking industry trends, peer activities, and market knowledgeWhat you'll bring:2-3 years of P&C underwriting experience with a strong preference in Life SciencesExperience establishing and expanding relationships with insureds, agents, and brokersAbility to effectively communicate information and ideas to influence and grow our businessRemains composed under pressure with exceptional organizational skills, integrity, and consistent follow-throughTechnical expertise in LS Global Clinical Trials, Products, E&O, and Property within Life Science preferredHighly responsive and tactfully assertive while preserving positive relationships even when declining requestsUndergraduate degree or demonstrable industry experienceAbility to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight travelSalary Range: $110,000 - $160,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
