As a community resource for thousands of families, Minnesota Children's Museum is dedicated to providing children with a fun, hands-on and stimulating environment to explore and discover.This position is responsible for the daily carpet cleaning of all surfaces of the museum, administrative offices, and all public spaces in accordance with the established standards to provide an impeccably clean and safe environment for all visitors and staff. This position supports general maintenance activities inside and outside the building.PAY: $20.00 per hourSCHEDULE: 40 hours per week; The hours for this role will align within the following: Monday-Thursday: 12PM-8:30PM & Friday-Sunday: 1PM-9:30PM. NOTE: The manager will work with the new hire to determine which 2 days they will have off, availability to work weekends and have flexibility with scheduling depending on the needs of the museum is required. POSITION SUMMARYPerform thorough and efficient cleaning of carpets in all spaces of the Museum spect carpets for stains, dirt, and other issues and determine appropriate cleaning methods and solutions.Operate carpet cleaning equipment, including steam cleaners, extractors, and vacuum cleaners, in a safe and effective manner.Pre-treat and spot-treat carpet stains using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques. Employ proper carpet cleaning techniques, such as shampooing, power scrubbing, hot water extraction, dry cleaning, or encapsulation, depending on the carpet type and condition.Ensure carpets are thoroughly cleaned and dried to prevent mold or mildew growth.Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of cleaning solutions and waste materials.Keep abreast of industry trends, new cleaning techniques, and equipment advancements to enhance skills and knowledge.Uphold high standards of customer service by addressing visitor concerns, answering questions, and providing recommendations for carpet maintenance and care.General daily cleaning duties as scheduled and assigned like vacuuming, dusting, mopping, restroom cleaning and restocking, polishing chrome, glass and miscellaneous surfaces, general disinfecting of Museum surfaces and props. Trash removal and general litter pick-up.Assisting in daily oversight of Custodian Services staff when Facilities Operation Coordinator, Lead or Maintenance Leadership is not available.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or equivalent.Proven experience as a Carpet Cleaning Specialist or similar role.Physical stamina and ability to lift 75 lbs. and move heavy -depth knowledge of different carpet types, materials, and cleaning techniques.Familiarity with various carpet cleaning equipment and tools.Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address stains and problem areas effectively.Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to carpet cleaning.Able to communicate over radio and respond to calls.IDEAL CANDIDATEPositive attitude and comfortable working around families and children.Knowledge of proper safe handling of cleaning chemicals.Skill in basic custodial techniques, including mopping, dusting, carpet cleaning etc.Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.Strong skill at working with and in operational teams.Ability to work with a service-oriented, pleasant demeanor.Attention to detail.Basic understanding and ability to communicate in English.AVAILABLE BENEFITSIndividual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) for Health InsuranceEmployer paid: Basic Life Insurance, Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, Long Term DisabilityDental and Vision Insurance403B and Roth Retirement savings plans with employer matchPre-tax options for: health spending, dependent care, and transportationFree family admission to museumABOUT MINNESOTA CHILDREN'S MUSEUMLocated in downtown St. Paul, MN, we employ 55 full-time and 55 part-time employees and engages variety of volunteers and interns.
