POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Forensic Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the AccuWeather Forensic Department - including overall vision, revenue and profitability growth, personnel management and day to day operations. The Director also is responsible for conducting forensic investigations in support of customer needs, expert testimony and dispatching projects to members of the Forensic team to ensure their successful completion. RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop strategic vision for the Forensics team and continuously implement new ideas to drive increased revenue and profitabilityMonitor and improve efficiency of department operations, delegate tasks to team membersForecast and monitor department sales monthly and optimize pricing of client projectsEnsure client satisfaction and develop processes to generate increased business from previous customersCoordinate with Marketing and PR teams to drive awareness of Forensic services leading to increased numbers of qualified leads and ultimately greater revenue Accelerate qualified leads from referral partnersCatalog customers, opportunities and completed sales within AccuWeather's CRMCoordinate with AFB Business Operations Team and Contracts team to ensure rapid negotiation of contracts involving the forensics groupIntegrate the latest technology and data sources into forensic analysis and report generationResearch and prepare individual project reports for forensic investigationsProvide expert testimony and other presentations related to forensic investigationsAssign site studies, data requests and other projects to appropriate personnelAssure that individual projects are progressing and completed on timeManage Forensic department personnel including oversight and mentoring of staff members, performance evaluations, goal setting for team members, recommendations on compensationMaintain conflict lists and oversee efficient process for checking on potential conflictsOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in meteorologyMaintain American Meteorological Society Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) or PhD in meteorology or related fieldAt least 3 years of experience providing high-quality expert testimony and other presentations related to forensic investigationsAt least 3 years of experience in conducting forensic investigations related to severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes, damaging thunderstorm winds, hail, flash flooding, etc.Experience successfully conducting investigations related to wildfires, including the use of satellite-based wildfire detection, is preferred.At least 3 years of experience in successfully conducting forensic investigations on general aviation related cases is preferred.At least 3 years of experience in successfully analyzing Doppler Radar dataMinimum of 5 years' experience in forensic or operational meteorologyDemonstrated ability to work with and supervise co-workers and daily tasksStrong organizational skillsStrong entrepreneurial skills and desire to continuously drive positive business accelerationDemonstrated ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accuratelyExpertise in obtaining and analyzing weather and climate dataStrong verbal communication skillsProficiency with NOAA Weather and Climate Toolkit, Gibson Ridge Radar Software, GIS Software such as QGIS and Global Mapper, Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAccuWeather is proud to be an Equal OpportunityAffirmative Action Employer.
