EPIARX Diagnostics, a private pathology practice located in DC is looking for a full-time Pathologist Assistant to support our anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of an attending pathologist to assist in dissection and examination of organs and tissues during autopsy examination, collect tissue samples an provide support in autopsy examinations. This role involves travelling both locoregionally (within DMV area) as well as across the United States. RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities include: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty listed below satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Provide a detailed and accurate description of tissue specimens using an electronic dictation system. Document and maintain accurate records of specimens and related findings. Assist in the preparation of reports, ensuring that all documentation complies with regulatory standards. Preparation and submission of tissue specimens and other biological specimens for special laboratory studies, including flow cytometric and molecular analyses. Perform dissection and examination of organs and tissues during an autopsy examination. Prepare for autopsy examination by obtaining patients' medical records. Perform gross and microscopic photography of specimens. Manage specimen storage, retrieval, and disposal in accordance with safety guidelines. Perform grossing of surgical specimens and other lab duties as necessary. Clean and maintain autopsy and other pathology equipment. Assist in the preparation of materials for educational conferences. Ensure smooth workflow and adherence to quality control standards. Perform duties relating to the administrative maintenance of pathology protocols, procedures, reports, and data Assist in standardizing and implementing new protocols and procedures, as necessary. May be exposed to disagreeable odors and infectious diseases; therefore, must take proper safety precautions necessary to protect their health and well-being. Assist with departmental quality assurancequality improvement activities and compliance with all CLIA and DC DOH Minimum Qualifications: EducationExperience Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Biological Sciences) (REQUIRED) 1-2 years of job-related experience - REQUIRED 1-2 years of formal training in a histopathology laboratory - REQUIRED Strong knowledge of anatomy and pathology dissectionevisceration techniques. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a pathology lab is a plus. Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols. Proficiency in lab equipment and software is desirable Maintain client confidentiality and professional demeanor Ability and willingness to travel widely both locoregionally within DMV area as well as across the United States required LicensureCertifications ASCP Certification - Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP-PA) or Master of Science degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program (REQUIRED) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, andor move objects up to 30 pounds. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, squat, and kneel as necessary to perform lab tasks. Manual dexterity to handle small instruments, tools, and specimens. Ability to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological specimens, chemicals, and other potentially hazardous materials.
