To learn more about TEACH-LA, please visit website: JOB PURPOSE:The Substitute Teacher will be under general supervision of assigned locations. The Substitute Teacher will deliver high quality Early Childhood Development services to children enrolled in programs, including educational, social, physical, nutritional and psychological development of children under their care. Communicates with parents on their child's individual progress and maintains records of attendance and educational achievement. Plans lessons, serves meals, and ensures healthy and safe learning environment for children.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for planning and implementing classroom lessons, conducting meetings and conferences with parents, coordinating activities and events for children and parents, interacting with the public and providing customer service by phone, email and in person, preparing correspondence, reports, records and other paperwork required by the early childhood education program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:Implement daily classroom lesson plans in accordance with curriculum planSupervise children while at the siteConductSupportAssist with safety checks and ensure a safe learning environmentPrepare breakfast and serve prepared meals for childrenClean and sanitize food areas (including dishwashing as needed)Help children practice good hygiene, including personal cleanliness and diapering, as neededPlan and execute classroom lessons and activities for childrenConductSupportAssist with learning and developmental assessments of childrenOrganize and lead physical education activities for childrenServe as an interpreter for parents who do not speak EnglishConductsupportassist teacher-parent conferences and home visits, if necessaryMaintain records of enrollment, attendance, achievement and other required paperwork, both manual and digital.Schedule, support, and follow through with the developmental screening and ongoing assessment of infants' and toddlers' motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional skills (including but not limited to DRDP-2015 IT, ASQ-3, ASQ: SE-2, etc.)Set up classrooms for various purposes; Organize and maintain instructional and program suppliesPerform diaper changing for children as neededPrep meals for family style meal service as neededSupervise Teacher Assistants and provide performance feedback and coaching to aid their developmentWilling to travel to various school locations (must be able to travel a minimum of 10 miles)RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: This Position requires an experienced pre-school teacher with knowledge of early childhood education, child developmental theory and practice. Must be a team player with outstanding interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, observational skills, written and oral communication skills. Basic computer skills desirable.EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year experience as a pre-school teacher, aide or assistant, preferably in a Head Start program. Must be at least 18 years old. Must Show proof of Department of Justice clearance to work with children prior to the start of employment. Livescan must be associated with California Community Care Licensing.EDUCATION CREDENTIAL PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher requiredA.A Degree or higher, 12 or more units in ECE, and Child Development Permit highly preferred3 units in InfantToddler highly preferredCPR1ST Aid CertificateValid California Driver's License and proof of auto insuranceProof of Department of Justice clearance (FingerprintsLivescan) to work with children prior to the start of employment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:T.B. Test within one year prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).Proof of the following immunizations as required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Pertussis (Whooping Cough aka TDAP) and InfluenzaCOVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson.
