Shift Operations Manager

Shift Operations ManagerFrozen Food Express is looking for a Shift Operations Manager for our Lemont, IL location. Responsibilities:Responsible for the proper execution of the dock operations for the assigned shift, ensuring that productivity levels are met and that our customer's freight is handled timely, efficiently, and claims free in the most economical fashion.Directly supervise assigned dockworkers and yard employees to include adherence to company policy, performance counseling and reviews up to and including administering disciplinary action and recommendations for promotion, transfer or termination.Train new Dockworkers and Yard Hostlers.Use discretion to plan staffing for shift and assign work based upon work loadprojected arrival times and make adjustments to loads as needed or spect and manage all material handling equipment.Direct clerical staff on document preparation.Conduct daily, pre-shift safety communication meetings.Conduct daily yard inventory to include trailer, seal, and temperature checks.Unloading, storing, staging, checking, tagging, handling, and loading of freight between the warehouse and inbound and outbound trailers.Monitor temperature environment of the warehouse, the cleanliness of dock and warehouse, proper functionality of doors, dock plates and material handling equipment.Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Requirements:HS Diploma or Equivalent3+ year of LTL TransportationDock Experience5+ years of ManagementSupervisor Experience (required)Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc.AS400 experience is preferred, but not requiredStrong Customer Service SkillsPossess excellent verbal and written communication and listening skillsAbility to solve problems where work is defined with established instructions and processesAbility to work under close detailed instructionMust be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of ConductMust be able to interact well with othersMust be able to work independently, or in a team setting.Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple prioritiesAbility to operate warehouse equipmentThe statements above are intended to describe the general nature of the list of job requirements andor duties performed by the employees and may not contain all capabilities necessary to perform the job at all times due to circumstances.
