Counseling In Schools (CIS) is seeking Bilingual candidates with extensive experience supporting people within the social service systems who are also experienced in group workshop facilitation. Candidates need to be available for after-school workshops to families in temporary housing across all five boroughs. The Part-Time Facilitator will be asked to lead 1-5 2-hour Workshops per week, in which families can build community with one another, build capacity in social emotional wellness, and learn how to navigate the systems of New York City. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, and understanding of Asylum Seekers and Crisis Intervention will be prioritized. We are seeking candidates with flexible availability, potentially on Saturdays 9am-1pm, and after-school hours 3-5pm, who have the ability to collaborate and co-facilitate with colleagues.PROGRAM INFORMATION:The program consists of simultaneous Parent and Child Workshops at multiple temporary housing sites around the city managed by the office of Students in Temporary Housing of the DOE, which is our partner. The participant population will primarily be recent asylum seeking families. We provide a space where parents and children can feel connected to each other, build community and belonging, and learn about the city's systems such as:Free family activitiesNavigating Parent-teacher conferencesESL coursesUnderstanding: food services, transit, medical care, legal immigration rights, etc.Required:Bi-lingual Spanish English.Extensive experience supporting people navigating complex social systems.Knowledge of trauma-informed care.Experience in facilitating dynamic, community-based workshops where participants can share individual perspectives.Knowledge of NYC systems such as legal aid, food, medical resources, and housing.Experience working with K-5 children (classroom management, dynamism, and trauma-informed teaching).Preferred but Not Required:Knowledge of crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques.Knowledge of Restorative Practices.Experience working with children and families going through loss and bereavement, andor in temporary housing.Experienced in using embodied practices (e.g. movement or drama therapy) in mental health care.Additional Info:Salary: $75hour.Schedule: Average 3-10 hours a week [Possibly more with this project]
