Salary : $45,926.40 - $68,848.00 AnnuallyLocation : Farmers Branch, TXJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 01390Department: Fleet & FacilitiesDivision: FleetEquipment ServicesOpening Date: 10292024Closing Date: Continuous Position Summary Join our team as a skilled Fleet Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of city-owned vehicles and equipment, including fire, ambulance, diesel-powered cars, and emergency units. Essential Job Functions As a Fleet Technician, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks to keep our fleet operating smoothly. You will excel in:Conducting repairs and routine maintenance on all city-owned equipment and vehicles promptly.Handling vehicle transportation for required servicing and implementing necessary fabrication and welding repairs when needed.Tailoring equipment modifications to meet the specific needs of our departments, ensuring optimal performance.Skillfully performing new vehicle up-fittings, including installing light bars, strobes, toolboxes, portable generators and compressors, custom power supplies, computer docking stations, orange cone storage systems, fifth wheel hitches, liftgates, city logos, and decals.Diagnoses, installs services for fleet vehiclesequipment including mechanical, electrical, computerized circuitry, refrigeration, ignition, transmissiontransaxle, brake, fuel and exhaust. Including but not limited to preventive maintenance. Education and Experience We value continuous learning and encourage candidates with a strong educational background and relevant experience to apply. A combination of education and experience that includes specialized training or vocational qualifications will be highly beneficial.Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, CJIS Fingerprint check, drug and alcohol test, and a motor vehicle review. Current CDL holders must pass a DOT-regulated drugalcohol test and successfully complete the FMCSA Clearinghouse background check process. As such, the selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, ongoing driver record checks, and compliance with all U.S. DOT regulations during employment.Licenses and Certificates:As part of our commitment to professional growth, we expect our Vehicle and Equipment Technicians to possess the following licenses and certifications:Valid driver's license with a good driving record (Class "B" Commercial Driver's License required within six months of employment).Three ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are mandatory, with the expectation of obtaining three additional ASE certifications within the first year of employment.Work Environment:While this role can be challenging, it offers immense satisfaction and the opportunity to work in a diverse and inclusive environment. The work environment may involve exposure to various disagreeable elements, requiring frequent handling of oily, greasy parts.
