The organization is dedicated to the community and focused on providing resources and opportunities. ESH has identified that education is the foundation for economic improvement and through its youth education and technology programs it teaches skills to allow its students and clients to become more self-sufficient and independent. As a community resource the organization also provides services to families and a growing senior population. In 2020 the organization began food distribution as an additional way to provide economic support to the community we serve.ESHs Youth After-School Academy, a literacy-focused after school program for students in grades 6 through 8 from high-poverty communities in Bronx, NY. ESH managed After School Programs offer students additional learning time in a fun, engaging, and safe environment. Students are offered a wide variety of activities including homework help, robotics, team sports, karate, dance, and music. Educational methods are used to build and reinforce the skills needed to reach New York State standards for promotion and graduation.Under the supervision of the Department Director of Community School Programs, the Program Director, with latitude for independent judgment, will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the SONYC Afterschool programs. Also, there is an expectation to develop and lead high quality, innovative programming for our middle school participants.Essential FunctionsDuties include, but are not limited to the following key activities:Program & Community Development:Provide oversite and direction part-time program staff of SONYC after school program and summer campRecruit, hire, orient, and develop program staffProvide supervision to all program staff and delivery of services on a day-to-day basis, to ensure that all goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met on a dailyweeklymonthly basisResponsible for participant recruitment and retention strategies by utilizing the DYCD Connect reportServes as the primary liaison for school administration, parents, and other community entities and constituenciesPrepare and evaluate mid-year performance reviews of program staffWork with program staff to improve job performance through ongoing mentoring and coaching, and monthly staff developmentFacilitate monthly team meetings and ensure that all staff meetings are adequately executedSet, communicate, and enforce clear standards for quality youth development programmingMust understand and navigate community culture and dynamic to ensure program qualityParticipate in ongoing efforts to advocate for program needs via community coalition building and via administering feedback surveys and program assessmentsProvide and maintain a safe program environment abiding by safety protocols outlined by DYCD, ESH, Office of Child and Family Services, and DOH Safety plan.Seek partnership opportunities and bring in at least three new partners a year to leverage resources to support programsCreate quarterly community events, special events, and workshop seriesAssess program on quarterly to ensure that community needs are metAdministrative:Ensure attendance tracking and reporting. Meet contractual requirements regarding enrollment and attendanceRespond to all electronic and phone communication within two business daysEnsure all DOH School-Aged Child Care and DOH Summer Day Camp regulations and procedures are complied with and conduct a quarterly self-checklist inspectionCoordinate and execute all major events and activities along with other ESH's Program DirectorsPrepare a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activitiesCreate a budget plan that supports program needs and ensure timely spendingCollaborate on cross-borough and agency department-wide events and strategic planning effortsPerform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of After SchoolsRemote Engagement:Experience facilitating live and pre-recorded activitiesFamiliarity using web-based platforms to engage participants: zoom, google classrooms, etc.Monitor participant engagement and safety while on live sessions remotelyFacilitate wellness checkscalls to familiesFollow remote working plan, policies & procedures as highlighted by the supervisorMaintain remotevirtual attendance logs & recordsOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. Maintain flexible hours and workdays.School Year: 10:00am - 6:00pmSummer: 8:00am - 6:00pmTravel Travel is primarily locally during the business day.
