Building Envelope Intern 2025Location: 601 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108About This OpportunityAs a Building Envelope Intern at Walker Consultants, you will gain invaluable experience working on all aspects of our projects setting you up for success to begin your architectural or engineering career. Building envelope projects require gaining an understanding of how structures are built, investigation of defects that damage building structures, design to prevent issues from occurring, construction site services to review and understand the systems, and testing to confirm the performance of building envelope systems. You will work on a wide variety of projects such as museums, hospitality, healthcare, commercial, multifamily, and other markets relevant to your future career. You will be a member of an internal multi-disciplinary team consisting of architects, engineers, planners and restoration professionals and will report directly to Director of Building Envelope, Project Manager or Consultant. $25 - $27 an hourResponsibilities•Assists in project coordination and meetings with internal team members.•Works directly with building envelope consultants in field investigations and reporting.•Prepares and revises documentation in various phases including floor plans, building elevations, building sections and details.•Utilizes AutoCAD or BIM technology (Revit) in development of plans, elevations, and details.•Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.•Participates in construction phase documentation, field observations, and reporting.•Assists in reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information.•Assists in testing such as water testing requiring assisting in building field chambers and observing for leaks and defects.•Opportunities to participate in field work and site visits.•May perform other duties as required.Qualifications•Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.•Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD or Revit.•Actively pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or ArchitecturalEngineering Technology.•0-5 years of previous structural design experience.•Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with a range of individuals, including clients, consultants, and other architects Who We AreWalker is a 100% employee-owned company of many capabilities offering professional services to clients in the private and public market sectors.
