In addition to working closely with the Ventas Risk Team, the Risk Manager will engage with colleagues throughout the company in their day-to-day work and on special projects and initiatives.Responsibilities:Claims Management: Work closely with the Director of Corporate Risk to monitor Professional Liability, General Liability, Auto Liability and Physical Damage, Property Damage, Workers' Compensation, Crime and Employment Practices Liability claims. Collaborate with outside consultants to review property and casualty claims and identify potential high exposure cases. Research individual claims from various insurance carriers and TPA systems, as well as the insurance broker's extranet. Assist with monitoring and analysis of insurance-related litigation and ensure proper notice is given to surance Policies and Related Contracts: Assist in review and analysis of insurance policy language, including terms and conditions and exclusions to coverage across multiple lines.Captive Insurance Management: Work with Property Accounting on Captive financial statements, actuarial reports and allocations. Serve as the bridge between Accounting and Risk to ensure optimal functioning of Captive on property and casualty and liability coverage voice Management & Processes: Collaborate with Accounting to confirm the accuracy of invoices and recommend approval of payments to the Director of Corporate Risk while maintaining updated database of invoice payments. Ensure premium payments are paid timely to preclude the cancellation of insurance policies while reconciling the accuracy of location level premiums and allocations for multiple lines of insurance.Loss Mitigation: Utilize benchmarking and claim trend analysis to identify and implement strategies designed to increase safety, reduce frequency and severity of claims, and generate operational efficiencies across the portfolio.Risk Management Information System: Utilize RMIS for management of tasks and workflow. Collaborate with Risk Analyst and Senior Risk Analyst to ensure accuracy of data in RMIS. Develop strategies for optimal use of RMIS and reporting to business segments. Create reports identifying claim trends and loss leaders.Exposure Information and Loss Experience for Insurance Renewals: Manage risk analysts and work with the appropriate staff throughout the organization to obtain data for renewals, including actual and projected payroll by classification, by state andor by country; revenues; number of vehicles; employee headcount; workers' compensation notices, OSHA reporting; and property values and business interruption values, including acquired and sold properties, and loss reports to submit this information to insurance brokers and insurers.Construction Insurance Placements: Manage communications between property insurers, insurance brokers, internal colleagues and third-party business partners relating to insurer review of plans and specifications for development, re-development, tenant improvement and other construction-related activity.
