Outdoor recreation facility in a park-like settingSeasonal position: -5:00 am- 9:00 am, Monday -Friday, May1st- Sept 30th * hiring priority is given to those that can work the entire season and with no time off for a vacation in mid-August to mid-September.Ensure the safety of pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies while enforcing pool rules and regulations.Duties and Responsibilities Primary ResponsibilitiesAble to work Monday - Friday 5:00 am- 9:000 amMaintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility from the assigned position and act immediately to ensure safety in an emergency.Examine injured patrons and administer first aid, CPR, or emergency care needed until emergency medical services arrive.Take pool water readings, adjust pool chemicals, and record required Arlington County pool records.Enforce facility rules and regulations.Sign in patrons and enforce rules regarding entrance.Clean pool, deck, pool vacuum, restrooms, and guard areas, as required.Secondary ResponsibilitiesAttend in-service training as required.Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times; maintain a high level of customer service.Perform additional duties as assigned by superiors.Minimum job requirementsMust be at least 18 years old and hold current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications from the American Red Cross.Must have pool operator certification and or the ability to show the health department the knowledge required of a pool operatorKnowledge, skills, and abilities required.Ability to react calmly and professionally in emergencies.Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard skills to current testing standards.Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team.Physically able to perform necessary lifeguard skills and lift 50+ lbs.Knowledge of and ability to adhere to company policies and regulations.Must be able to pass a ten-year background check; any job offer will be based on the background check results.
