The Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is currently looking for an experienced hotel Sales Manager to join our Team! With 306 guestrooms and 8,000 square feet of meeting space ideal location for corporate, association and incentive groups coming to the San Diego area. This is a Full Time Salary Position. Salary Range is $80,000 - $85,000, depending on experience.The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting and servicing business in the hotel in accordance with the marketing plan and assigned market segments. Generates a high profile and quality perception in the market place. Responsible for generating group guest room and other revenues as directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing. Also responsible for maximizing profitability and ensuring overall guest satisfaction.JOB DUTIES:Meet or exceed pre-determined booking goals for guest room revenue; meet or exceed budgeted costs and revenue on a monthly average with the liberty to negotiate as needed on individual functions within established guidelines while maintaining the overall revenue goalsResponsible for prompt handling (within the business day) of inquiry calls and monitoring the efficient flow of paperwork relative to confirming function details to the clientCompile lists of prospective clients for use as sales leads based on information from newspapers, business directories and other sourcesSolicit new and repeat guest room and meeting businessMaintain client base of key accounts and conventionsDetermine the guest's needs, space availability, and meeting detailsMake outside sales calls and telemarket to obtain businessUtilize site inspections and on-site luncheons to book businessMaintain active liaison with competitors regionally through personal contacts, professional and industry associationsMonitor pricing, service levels, facilities and function activities at competitive facilities to ensure the Hotel remains in a competitive positionEvaluate a potential piece of business for profitability and overall benefit to the HotelHave acquired knowledge with the ability to upsell clients, while promoting a level of service parallel to the luxury stature of the facilityComplete coordination of the Sales group functions; accurate and timely preparation of detailed Sales Contracts and Group Resumes as necessary to ensure a common quality understanding of what the client is to receive in terms of products and servicesReview function contracts prior to distribution to client and hotel staffFollow up on the progress of groups booked, such as room night pick up, rooming lists, cut off dates, etc. Generate "thank you" notes to clients after functions with prompt follow up of negative client feedback as necessaryFollow up on bookings and solicit repeat businessRepresent hotel in community affairs and industry related eventsParticipate in the marketing plans, promotions and servicesPrepare weekly activity report to include all financial booking performance and personal call reports for active solicitation performedUnderstand and adhere to budgeted wage and hour limitations for associatesAttend department meetings, interdepartmental meetings as needed, and all managers meetingsActively participate in hotel events and activitiesBe familiar with the operating procedures of all other areas of the hotel, cooperating fully and in a friendly manner with those areas to assure customer satisfactionNotify management of any pertinent information related to shift activitiesDetermine the requirements for and the follow up on special groups, VIPs, etc.Follow supervisor's instructions and completes other duties as directed or assignedAssist in the design of materials for promotions and public relationsAssist in the preparation of the marketing plan and budgetAs needed, check banquet functions prior to guest arrival and make personal contact with client at the time of function with proper introduction of service staff who will handle the eventJOB REQUIREMENTS:Must have at least 3 years hotel sales manager experience Knowledge of CI-TY, Passkey, Marsha and PMS a plusBenefitsMedical (Anthem, Kaiser or Simnsa)Dental (Aetna)Vision (VSP) and Life (The Hartford)Voluntary Benefits including Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Supplemental Life (The Hartford)401K Retirement Benefits with 4% match and immediate 100% vesting (Transamerica)Vacation and Sick PayFree Parking at the hotel ($175 value)Meal allowance per shift ($10 per shift)Room Discounts with any Marriott Brand Hotel (31 different brand globally)Additional Room Discounts for select hotels within portfolioTwo pairs of slip resistant shoes a yearWhy San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter?Are you ready to join the premiere team in the Gaslamp Quarter?
