The position is non-represented and eligible for a full benefits package. Hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Remote work opportunities are limited due to the nature of the position. Job Duties The individual selected for this position will supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, sewage pump stations and related equipment; ensure compliance with NPDES permit requirements and State and Federal water quality regulations; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Utilities Manager and the Public Works Director. Minimum Qualifications CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED: Possession of a valid Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Grade IV certificate as required by the Department of Ecology within 6 months of date of hire Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in wastewater treatment plant operations andor maintenance, or a related fieldA minimum of eight years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and operation of a wastewater treatment plant and pumping facility, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibilityIn addition to the job description requirements, the preferred candidates will possess the following attributes: positive attitude, ability to take initiative, excellent customer service skills, good verbal, and written communication skills, demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills and flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.
