Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR's Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.As the Environmental, Operations and Construction, Inc. (EOC) Area Safety Manager, the successful candidate will work directly with EOC staff under the direction of the Director of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) and coordinate with Regional SH&E Managers. The Area Safety Manager will be instrumental in continuing HDR's effort to be an industry leader in SH&E performance and management. The Area Safety Manager will report to the EOC President and advise and assist the EOC Area Operations Managers in the assessment, development, implementation and management of project and office SH&E requirements and programs. Although the Area Safety Manager will report functionally to the EOC President, heshe will provide regular consultation and support from HDR Corporate SH&E on the full implementation and oversight of HDR SH&E program standards and requirements within the given area of responsibility. The Area Safety Manager will support Area business management including business development (i.e., proposal development and review, initial risk assessments, site specific safety plan support, Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) reviews, resource allocation, client management, etc.) and periodicfrequent Area safety performance reporting. The Area Safety Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the SH&E programs for all EOC offices and providing guidance and support to local Safety Coordinators (SCs). This position requires proof of US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a US Department of Defense security clearance as the role of Area Safety Manager, we'll count on you to:Provide systematic assessment of site conditions and contract requirements, and the determination of applicable US Federal (i.e., EPA, OSHA, DoD) andor State rules regulations, as well as US national and international industry consensus standards (where applicable)Provide direction and support to Project Safety Managers and SCs as required to validate compliance with project contractual obligationsConduct and ensure that scheduled safety & environmental compliance audits and inspections are completed, including the definition and management of corrective and preventive actionsEnsure SH&E compliance records are organized and maintained per applicable regulationsProvide project audit results (including non-compliance) to the Project Manager, EOC President, and HDR Corporate Director of SH&EEstablish, maintain, and frequent reporting of EOC's leading and lagging Safety performance indicator metrics to EOC Operations Management and HDR Corporate Director of SH&EEnsure the effective coordination of environmental compliance samplingtesting as required by the contract, applicable permits and regulations, to include interface with external laboratories relative to sampling protocol(s), chain of custody, etc.Support SCs in the performance of all SH&E related work activities, including the development and implementation of project- and office-specific safety plans and supporting the assessment of regular and non-routine work assignments and responsibilitiesEstablish, make provisions for, and maintain the SH&E technical proficiencies (e.g., safety training, first aidCPR, lone worker training, wilderness safety) for all EOC personnelAdditional duties as assigned by the EOC President, Area Managers, Project or Office Managers andor the HDR Corporate SH&E DirectorAbility to travel (approximately 30% of your time) to the assigned EOC geographical areas of responsibilityPreferred QualificationsPrevious SH&E work experience in construction, miningtunneling, water infrastructure, DOT, Oil and Gas andor A&E firmBS in Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Management or Engineering or other similar field of study, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience managing SH&E programprojects in general industry, government services andor constructionCSP, ASP, CHST or CIH certification preferred andor 8-10 years Senior SH&E Management experience in support of Federal government contracts, with an emphasis on the Department of Defense (DoD) projectsExperience may also include previous Construction management and Base Operations Support Services in a high security environmentStrong preference given to candidates currently located in the geographic area (i.e., Denver) associated with job positionWorking knowledge of US Federal EPA, OSHA and DoT regulations, as well as State and local regulations and requirementsPossess current OSHA construction outreach trainer certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hireProficiency with MS Office and other software tools, including incident management softwareExcellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills*LI-BC1QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field A minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field Certification in one or more SH&E fields such as (Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), (GSP) Graduate Safety Practitioner, or equivalent SH&E ProjectProgram Management experienceExtensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards Knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software Team-oriented with proven oral and written skills to support company SH&E policy and procedural requirements An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We BelieveHDR is our company.
