This position requires face-to-face leadership in this program, Monday - Friday, 6:00 - 9:00 AM and 3:00 - 6:00 PM.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssist with implementation of the program and activitiesSchedules vendors, field trips and other YMCA Enrichment programsProvides monthly lesson plans to the Program DirectorProvides on-site supervision of the programsAssists in managing licensing foldersMaintains adequate rosters for program and makes periodic reportsAssists in recruiting, orientating, and enrolling childrenfamilies to the programsConfers with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment proceduresConfers with staff regarding child's behavioral or learning problems, and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiencesArranges medical attention for ill or injured child in accordance with parental instructionsPerforms classroom teaching duties during absence of assistant teacherEnsures the safety of all participants by enforcing safety standards and following emergency proceduresSwims with children during swim lessonsManages 2-10 program staffCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Association's policies and applicable lawsAudits timesheetsAssists with annual performance reviewsSupports the Association in recruitment of diverse employees and volunteersPlans, assigns, and directs work; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problemsPerforms any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand RapidsCOMPENSATION$17.42 - $21.77 ; Part Time, 25 hoursweekThis position offers a $2hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.BENEFITS:Free YMCA Individual Membership12% retirement contribution upon eligibility, learn more here. 403(b) retirement savings accountOngoing training and development opportunitiesAccess to the Employee Assistance Program and resources for you and your familyCommunity Discounts, and more!RequirementsQualificationsBachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in a child related field (early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education, etc) ; three to five years related experience working with youth; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Per licensing, must be 21 years of age or older. Past supervision experience preferred. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles. Ability and desire to work with children 5-15 years of age. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications.
