Cost Accounting Manager

We are partnered with an innovative aerospace start-up seeking a Cost Accounting Manager. The position will be responsible for building the department from scratch. Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of manufacturing cost accounting, including costing projects, month-end close, cost accuracy, labor and overhead absorption, inventory management, and freight and duty tracking. Build strong cross-functional relationships with the production team to gain a deep understanding of processes, cost drivers, and revenue impact. Analyze cost variances, production volumes, and material usage trends, implementing timely adjustments with the cross-functional team. Investigate and resolve unexplained inventory transactions. Take ownership of the cost accounting function, develop processes from the ground up, and drive continuous improvements, with a strong focus on change management. Identify and implement operational efficiencies in labor and overhead burden to enhance profitability. Conduct variance analysis, including margin analysis, purchase price variances, cost revaluation, invoice-to-PO price discrepancies, work order variances, and system-to-system inconsistencies. Ensure ERP system accuracy through regular analysis, internal audits, and collaboration with inventory control and production teams. Lead ERP enhancements to support evolving business needs. Work closely with FP&A to identify cost drivers and create models for forward-looking plans and forecasts. Ensure Bill of Material (BOM) accuracy and assess cost reduction impacts on financials. Prepare routine and ad-hoc accounting schedules for internal and external reporting requirements. Provide support for audits as needed. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Cost experience in a manufacturing environment Bachelor's in Accounting or related field CPA Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory, operations process Start-up experience preferred If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.
