Please be aware that the posting may close at any time without further notice.The OpportunityThe Accountant II is responsible for performing a variety of professional-level accounting and financial duties to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the County's financial records. This includes account reconciliations, financial reporting, cost allocation, fixed asset maintenance, and supporting the development and testing of financial systems. The position plays a critical role in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), financial analysis, and compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.The Accountant II works under the supervision of the Chief Accountant and collaborates with both the Budget and Treasury teams to ensure effective financial oversight.Ideal Candidate ProfileTechnical Skills:Experience with preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and managing fixed assets.Proficient in Oracle Financial Systems and experience with ERP transitions (e.g., Workday).Strong understanding of GAAP, GASB, and governmental accounting principles.Proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas (i.e. IF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, COUNTIF, etc.), creating and managing tables, PivotTablesPivotCharts and financial analysis tools.Key Competencies:Expertise in account reconciliation and financial reporting.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for complex financial transactions.Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet terpersonal Skills:Effective collaboration with teams across departments.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proactive problem-solver with the ability to train and support staff on financial policies.Why Washington County?Are you interested in challenging, meaningful, and rewarding work?
