DescriptionJob Description SummaryThe Senior Revenue Accountant is a critical part of the Finance and Accounting team with strong operational emphasis on period close responsibilities that impact accounts receivables, contributions and grants receivables, and refundable advances, among others. This position is an individual contributor and will report to the Controller. This position requires working cross-functionally within and outside of the finance and accounting team, help driving system implementations and enhancements, and process improvements, all to ready the organization as it further ramps up its public-private partnership in the bioindustrial manufacturing ecosystem.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with the Grant Accounting team and Contracts team, review and determine accounting treatment of all grant agreement and subaward contract documentation to ensure revenue and related accounts are presented completely and accurately according to ASC 606.Monitor order management and procurement workflows, including the integration between Contract Lifecycle Management, HR information system, NetSuite, and other applicable systems, to ensure revenue accounting, including subawards expenditures, indirect costs and management fees are captured accurately and completelyPerform revenue accounting activities and balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forwards as part of the period close process and ad hoc management reporting.Work closely with the cash, billing and collections team members to monitor balances in receivable and advances, as well as help determining proper related allowance accounts. Document revenue processes and controls, design and implement improvements, and drive automation initiatives.Work closely with Information Systems & Security team to build and test appliable system configurations based on provided requirements and use cases.Prepare audit and tax requested PBC schedules, confirmations and address follow up items.Assist in ensuring revenue-related control procedures are executed and workpaper documentations are quality compliant; prepare all required data and analysis to support external audit, internal control and other testing requests, among others.Collaborate, liaise and assist other finance team members, as needed.Other duties as assigned. Requirements A successful candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys working in collaborative environment to solve issues, pro-active, organized, analytical, and has good communication skills.5+ years of experience in revenue accounting; government grant accounting experience preferred.Must possess a strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles under GAAP.Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; CPA certification andor public accounting experience preferred.Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and other similar accounting software preferred.Must possess a strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.Must be able to work with a high volume of transactions.Must possess a results and detailed-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards process improvements.Must be able to collaborate and communicate (oral and written) effectively.Must possess excellent project management skills with ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure.
