This is a hybrid role based out of our HQ office near Portland, Oregon. The expectation is for employees to be in-office 3 days or more per week, depending on business need. This in-office expectation is subject to change at business discretion.ABOUT THE POSITION Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy. Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence. As Senior Accountant for the North America Direct to Consumer ("DTC") accounting team you'll be responsible for month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, maintaining strong internal controls, and for delivering timely, accurate, and relevant financial information. You will be relied up on as an active, collaborative business partner in driving our North America DTC growth. Your primary responsibilities will include accounting for e-Commerce business and DTC sales related reserves (returns, loyalty program, and promotions). Additional responsibilities include active identification of issues and areas for process improvement, automation of business processes and reporting, and assisting with the preparation of internalexternal financial reports, including budget and forecasting information. HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Deliver accurate and timely execution of accounting processes for DTC operations (primarily e-Commerce), including technical considerations around revenue recognition and related reserves (i.e.: returns, loyalty program, promotions, gift cards), marketing, softwarehardware, and e-Commerce freight accrualsResponsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly General Ledger entries and reconciliations in an efficient, timely manner and in accordance with US GAAPPerform analysis of accounting records to explain variances resulting from financial statement review and inquiries from management and business partnersMaintain a comprehensive cross-functional internal control structure for our e-Commerce operations, documenting processes, actively monitoring controls for compliance and enhancing controls as business process improvements occurServe as the subject matter expert for e-Commerce financial processes, providing cross-functional teams with technical requirements, guidance and influenceUnderstand unique E-Commerce transaction processes including the reconciliation of sales order transactions from the e-Commerce system, ERP and bankLiaise and collaborate with cross functional partners that include internal, external auditors and Shared Services to ensure accurate DTC reportingAssist in the requirements gathering, testing and implementation of new retail systems and applications as it relates to accounting and controlsYOU ARE Skilled in problem solving, making decisions, and working effectively under pressureAble to meet tight deadlines across multiple prioritiesAnalytical with attention to detailAble to effectively communicate complex topics (both written and verbal)A continuous improvement practitioner, capable of identifying and delivering end-to-end process and technology improvementsFlexible in your approach to meeting the changing needs and priority shifts of the broader accounting teamYOU HAVE Bachelor's degree specializing in accounting or a related field5+ years of progressive accounting experience or 3+ years of public accounting experienceGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles proficiencyAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel and proficiency in MS WordFinancial Systems experience in SAP, D365, Power BI, and TM1 a plusCPA preferred#LI-SR1#HybridThis job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities, but constitutes a general definition of the position's scope and function in the company.
