Salary: See Position DescriptionLocation : Gresham, ORJob Type: Non-Union Regular Full-TimeJob Number: 24-00129Department: Maintenance (Non Union)Division: Rail MOW AdministrationOpening Date: 10292024Closing Date: Continuous Description Lead TriMet's OCS engineering technical support.Perform engineering duties as a fully competent and experienced engineer in all aspects of Maintenance of Way (MOW), and a specialty in at least one of the following: signals, traction power, trackrail, or structures. Duties include working on a range of MOW engineering tasks, requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, maintenance procedures, and criteria, and assisting in the resolution of complex engineering, maintenance, planning, and policy issues.This role requires being in office four (4) days per week.Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. Essential Functions Provide professional engineering services in developing and reviewing conceptual and detailed design of railroad signals, substations and overhead catenary (OCS) systems, track, rail, and structures. Signals relay and PLC technology, catenary and or track components, substation components and relationship of OCSSubstationsSignals in an electrified railroad environment.Prepare designs, calculations, cost estimates, documentation and public presentation material related to MOW SignalsSubstationsOCS systems, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of defects.Evaluate the functional feasibility, electrical and mechanical design, and system reliability of various electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and hardware associated with future and existing MAX maintenance of way systems as they relate to the MOW Signals and Traction Power system maintenance and repair. Coordinate with other TriMet engineers, staff and consultants to ensure compatible designs.Review product and systems submittals for compliance with contract requirements and TriMet criteria. Prepare documents for the maintenance standards and procedures of MOW Signal and Traction Power systems, installations and equipment.Assist with administration of contracts relating to the procurement, installation, testing and start-up of various MOW disciplines, hardware, software, and related equipment. Coordinate with systems engineering, consultants and other system, track, structural, and civil contracts on construction issues.Prepare minutes, documentation, specifications and technical reports, and review such material generated by others. Assist with preparation of contract specifications and bid documents.Responsible for approving and maximizing: 1) relevant design criteria, 2) MOW inspection and test procedures, 3) MOW Maintenance Standards.Monitor maintenance and manufacturing activities to assure contractual and manufacturer compliance. Perform field measurements and calculations to verify quantities and quality of completed work. Assist with contracts administration for management of equipment procurement, testing and consultant contracts.Provide lead expert guidance to MOW management, supervisors, consultants, systems engineering and other support staff as required for specific assignments and within the guidelines provided by the MOW Director of Operations.Represent TriMet at various interagency meetings and industry meetings as a technical representative. Position Requirements A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant engineering degree is required.A minimum of six (6) years total credited experience.* Six (6) years of experience as a competent practicing engineer is required.Six (6) years of engineering experience in an area directly applicable to MOW signals, OCS and substation systems design, inspection, and manufacturing or maintenance management is required.A PE - Professional Engineer licensecertificate is required within one (1) year of employment.Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. The employee is vested in the account after three years of service.
