This role will be located at Discovery Land Company's Corporate Office located in Beverly Hills, California. Discovery Land Company is seeking an Employment Law Attorney to join the Legal Department. As an Employment Law Attorney at Discovery Land Company, you will be advising on a wide range of employment-related matters, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and managing labor-related disputes. This person will work closely with Discovery Land Company's Chief Legal Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, HR management, and other departments to support the Company's legal needs. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience specializing in employment law, with a strong background in providing legal counsel on workplace issues within a corporate environment.Duties & Responsibilities: Legal Counsel on Employment Matters: Provide legal guidance on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, terminations, employee contracts, wage and hour compliance, benefits, discrimination, and harassment claims.Function as the front-line legal advisor for all employment law-related legal and personnel matters, consulting with external counsel as needed.Handle day-to-day management of employment-related disputes, claims, lawsuits, andor administrative tribunal actions, coordinating legal strategy with external counsel and the businessHR team ternal Investigations: Partner with Chief Human Resources Officer on all employee investigations related to employee conduct, discrimination, and other workplace pliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (such as FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.), and proactively manage employment-related risks.Policy Development & Review: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company goals.Dispute Resolution: Manage employment-related disputes, including handling grievances, negotiating settlements, and representing the company in mediations, arbitrations, and legal proceedings.Collaborative Support: Work closely with HR and other departments to address legal issues that arise in day-to-day operations and provide strategic legal advice on employment-related matters.Focus on anticipation, prevention, proactive counsel, risk management and developing best-in-class practices and processes. You will efficiently assist with needed legal intervention, manage legal risks, minimize costs by effectively managing legal issues in-house and reduce reliance on external counsel (where possible), and maintain a proactive communication with the HR team and business.Skills & Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.4-7 years of hands-on experience as a labor and employment attorney, in-house experience is a big plusActive bar membership (good-standing) in California or ability to obtain in house -depth knowledge of US federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.A solid track record in effective stakeholder engagement, building relationships and engaging at all levels, and internationally, with high levels of initiative, confidence, and ability to influence others.A high level of self-accountability, with ability to work on projects of high complexity in an independent manner effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.Ability to effectively manage internal investigations and workplace disputes.Experience in drafting and reviewing employment policies and contracts.Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively.Experience working in industries such as real estate, hospitality, club, or luxury services is a plus.Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.Some international employment exposure is required.BenefitsThe compensation range for the position is: $240,000-$260,000 + Bonus.Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits401k ContributionPaid Time Off and Paid HolidaysProfessional development and upward mobility opportunitiesAbout UsDiscovery Land Company is a U.S.-based real estate developer and operator of private residential club communities and resorts with a world-renowned portfolio of domestic and international properties.
