Position: Per-diem Speech Language PathologistResponsibilities:1. Conduct diagnostic procedures for patients with diverse disorders and level of severities. Administer appropriate testing protocols including standardized testing, behavioral observations, and informal measures that are appropriate to the disorder and patient's age.2. Report findings including accurate diagnosis, prognosis, recommendations, and objectives to patients, family, and referral sources with valid consent.3. Develop and execute treatment plans appropriate to patient's age, disorder, and prognosis.4. Conduct therapeutic procedures for patients with diagnoses of communication andor swallowing disorder. Monitor progress and revise goals appropriately to restore function and develop skill with patient and family engagement in the process.5. Plan discharge appropriate discharge recommendations including referral to other services, referral to outside sources, and completion of discharge treatment outcome assessments.6. Document accurate patient evaluation and treatment notes in the electronic medical record as per departmental policies and procedures. This includes the completion of a diagnostic report with all pertinent information within the prescribed timeframe including referrals to outside providers for continuations of care as needed.7. Participation in the department's performance improvement projects, quality assurance, staff in services, presentation to other departments or services, and community health fairs.8. Professionally represent the speech language and pathology services in all interdepartmental meetings and continuing education seminars.9. Participate in continuing education activities through attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, or on-site webinars.10. Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.QUALIFICATIONS:Education Required: A graduate degree (MA or MS) in Speech-Language PathologyLicenseCertificationRegistration(s) Required: New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology; Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech language Hearing Association.ExperienceSkills Required: At least one (1) year of clinical experience, which may include the completion of fellowshipsupervised licensing period.WORKING CONDITIONS: Direct patient contact; physically very active; frequent standing and considerable moving about; lifting andor carrying of materials related to treatment procedures; patient transfers for tests.
