Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Work ShiftsTour II: 8:00 A.M - 6:30 P.MJob DescriptionSummary of Duties and Responsibilities:Demonstrates knowledge of unit case mix: common diagnoses, needs, and treatment modalitiesEnsures staffing coverage of care districts and equitable distribution of staffing and material resourcesAssigns patient care based on scope of practice and skills competency of the staffAudits care notes to ensure completion of assignments: admission assessment, tour assessment, pain assessments, plan of care updates, and patient educationCollaborates with unit Manger to ensure timely staffing schedule and ensure schedule timely posting.Assist nurse manager with periodic staff meetingsCollaborates with the care team and the admitting office in ensuring patient flow: admission, discharges, transfers; ensures the use of appropriate handoff report in patient transfersParticipates in interdisciplinary team rounds; readily discourses patient care concerns during rounds.Demonstrates competency in operating unit equipment; ensures equipment are maintained as per municates patient's progressissues using handoff and escalation policies.Demonstrates ownership of Unit Pl activity; participates in hospital-wide P I initiativesAssists with enforcing regulatory agency standards that guide care in the assignment specialtyParticipates in new recruitment interview as well as in mentoring and coaching of new staff and studentsServes as patientfamily advocate; provides age-appropriate education to patientsfamilyDemonstrates commitment to continued professional development, including Specialty Board Certification.Minimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and3.
