Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for working with both Early Intervention (birth-3) and preschool children in group and individual therapeutic activities, conducting evaluations, coordinating goals and objectives with other professionals, working with families and working with the Director of Clarke-New York. This position reports to the director of Clarke's NY Campus. This is a 12-month position with general hours of 8:00am-4:00 pm. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.Duties and Performance ResponsibilitiesProvision of diagnostic Speech, Language and Auditory Therapy to children with hearing loss birth to age 3 through the Early Intervention Program and 3-5 year olds in the Preschool programComplete all required notesrecord keeping (EI, Easytrac, Clarke internal documentation, etc.)Conduct formal and informal evaluations for children with or without hearing lossDevelop therapy plans for both Individual and group sessions for EI and preschoolFacilitate individual, group and parentchild therapy sessionsAssist teachers with developing and maintaining an auditory environment and setting appropriate language goals within the classroomTroubleshoot cochlear implant processors, hearing aids, bahas and accessoriesKeep current with trends and research in the field of hearing lossCommunicate regularly with parentsActively engage in professional growthAdhere to all policies and procedures stated in the employee handbookCommunicate and collaborate with CI teams, private therapists and other professionalsreferral sourcesMeetings, Planning and Written Reports:Participate in meetings with educational team to discuss children's progressParticipate in staff meetings, weeklyParticipate in parent meetings as neededParticipate in CASSLS conferencesParticipate in parent workshops or Clarke community eventsParticipate in parent conferences, team meetings, staff development and special school wide eventsComplete appropriate paperwork and reports related to the provision of Early Intervention and preschool services and evaluationsDevelop IEP and IFSP documentsCommunicate with parents through various modes such as communication notebooks and school blogPrepare progress reports and IEP proposalsDaily assessment of progress based on service providedDocument progress as needed for LSL-DRADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.Promote Clarke's Mission and GoalsAssist with maintaining a clean, safe, neat and family friendly environmentAttend community outreach eventsParticipateplan parent workshops Requirements Masters Degree in Speech and Language PathologyAppropriate certifications in Speech and Language Pathology from ASHA and NYSEDListening and Spoken Language AVT or AVEd certificated, in process, or interest, preferredEducational experiencetraining working with children in a therapeutic center based setting and expertise in auditoryoralverbal methodology in working with children with hearing loss.Strong commitment to a listening spoken language approach and methodology for the development of spoken language skills for children with hearing lossEffective planning and organizational skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsFlexibilityAbility to establish rapport with and work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and outside agenciesExperience giving formal and informal assessments, interpreting results, developing recommendationsTitle IX Notice of Nondiscrimination: Clarke Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex in admission, administration of its educational programs or activities or employment.
