We are currently seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team of Physicians, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists. For immediate consideration, send your CV and cover letter to: OF RESPONSIBILITIESRehabilitation MedicineSUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Elicit detailed and accurate history and perform appropriate physical examinations on inpatients and outpatients. 2. Assists the supervising Physician and back up by Physicians on any other procedures falling within the scope of practice of Physician. 3. Instructs and counsels the patient and his or her family about preventative care, medical problems, prescribed treatments and drugs. 4. Participates in daily rounds and record pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarization charts, writing orders and progress notes and notifying the Physician of changes in the patient's condition, when appropriate. 5. Initiates consultations and refers patients for special testing according to hospital protocols. 6. Performs specific procedures, including but not necessarily limited to: Performs injections, venipuncture, stat intravenous fluids and medications; Inserts and removes intravenous lines, sutures, nasogastric, and uninary catheters; Performs incision and drainage of minor abscesses; Draws venous and arterial (radial and femoral) blood samples and blood cultures using sterile technique; Simple superficial debridement; wound closure; perform arthrocentesis; injection of steroids into joing, tendons, and bursa; trigger point injections; care of simple strains and sprains including immobilization and application of splints; order orthopedic devices; care of castingmobilization of simple fractures; application and removal of external spinal orthoses; Botulinum Toxin injections; perform injections using Musculoskeletal Ultrasound; Perform andor assist in the performance of invasive therapeutic procedures within the scope of PM&R service.7. Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory test, x-ray, and writes prescriptions according to protocols established by the service and in compliance with the New York State rules and regulations governing the performance of Physician Assistants.8. Performance other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; and, 2. Current certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); and, 3.
