Ask questions of guests and make personal connections to make them feel they are welcome and valuedInspect section prior to lunchdinner rush (wipe tables, clean window sills, clean table bases, wipe chairs, clean and fill salt & pepper shakers, clean floor)Obtain orders from guests ensuring accuracy while following Big E's steps of serviceEnsure all guests requesting alcohol have proper ID and are over 21 years of ageAttempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons according to TIPS trainingVerify accuracy of the bill, and present to the guestHandle all cash and credit card charges according to standard operating proceduresAdvise supervisor of any complaints as soon as possible, but also follow the One More Step guidelines by taking charge of the issue and offering solutionsComplete assigned shift dutiesPre-bus tablesRun food and help others when ableComplete closing shift workSet up and break down patio daily in seasonFollow all Suburban Inns ProcessesExhibit regular and recurrent attendance recordsOther duties as requested by managementServer Position Requirements:Server Minimum Knowledge: Requires ability to interpretextract information andor perform arithmetic functions. Good communication skillsServer Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: NoneServer License, Registration, andor Certification Required: TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol Certification (May be completed upon hire)Server Work Schedule: Work regularly requires or varies between day, evening, night, holiday, andor weekend assignments. Schedule varies according to business demands and needsServer Required Travel: Position does not require travel to other Suburban Inns properties or client locations. Work is completed on property.Server Uniform and Appearance Guidelines:Server Uniform: Uniform shirt and name tag provided. Suburban Inns approved blue jeans (see Uniform Policy) and black, close-toed, non-slip shoes are the responsibility of the Server. Server Appearance: Hair must be kept well-groomed. All facial piercings and tattoos that are not covered by a work uniform must be approved by management. Any tattoo that is deemed offensive to co-workers, guests, vendors or others in the workplace based on racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or other characteristics or attributes of a sensitive or legally protected nature are not permitted and must remain covered or concealed at all times. This policy will be administered by the position's supervisor, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, height, weight, genetics, familial status, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. The Vice President of Operations has the authority to veto any decision made by the position's supervisor.
