While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks may vary over time depending on the City's needs. Support City policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures. Minimum Qualifications Education and ExperienceMust possess a High School diploma or GED, be a citizen of the United States AND; 1. Be at least 21 years old by the time of graduation from an Arizona police academy, OR; 2. Currently enrolled in or graduated from an Arizona police academy within six (6) months of application and obtain AZPOST certification as a Peace Officer within thirty (30) days of appointment. SkillsLearning police methods and procedures including but not limited to patrol, crime prevention, traffic control, investigations and identification techniques. Pre-employment RequirementsCandidates who are selected for appointment may be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drugalcohol test, medical, polygraph andor psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in Arizona, or meet the transportation needs of the position.LicensesCertificationsCertified by Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) or able to achieve AZPOST certification within six (6) months of appointment. Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal Operator (ACJIS) certification within four (4) months of appointment.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork requires walking, running, climbing, sitting and driving. Required to perform a full range of motion with lifting andor carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds and exerting force between 20 and 50 pounds. Possible exposure to potentially hazardous, uncontrollable and life threatening situations.
