Provides technical supervision to design team assigned to the same projects and across all disciplines. Assists in the development of all of the drawings and plans required to complete a project design in a particular discipline. Communicates design issues and problems with the project engineer and the client's representatives. Key Responsibilities:Coordinates initial project set up and continuously ensures the team has the current model through communication with the architectPrepares electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency using industry softwareDevelops design approaches and concepts on assigned projects in coordination with the project engineerImplements design requirements as related by design teamPerforms system design layout and sizing for assigned projectsAssists in the studies, load calculation, and selection of equipment to fit the project designAnticipates problems and potential conflicts and works with design team to execute solutionsReviews shop drawings, records changes, and keeps all disciplines informed of details and schedulesAttends project update meetings with both clients and team membersLeads the design team in the coordination with external and internal contacts such as owners, architects, and other disciplinesCommunicates design requirements and answers questions from contractors and suppliers during the bid or construction phasesMaintains detailed records of communications with clients, contractors, vendors, and team membersCoordinates the contract documents with the construction administrators and may perform on-site inspections during construction as required; may serve as a Construction Administrator as neededPerforms collision changes in Navisworks as collisions are identified by the design teamHolds responsibility for the overall review of the design process and design documents in terms of technical accuracy and completenessAssists in the development of man-hour budgets and performs tasks in accordance with the budget by accurately quantifying the amount of effort needed to complete tasksCommunicates with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information on drawingsMaintains a continued focus on keeping up with code requirements, design software, and other industry trendsAssists in the training, mentoring, andor developmental guidance of designers and EITsProvides input during employee performance reviews.May assist or supervise in data collection andor field verification.May collaborate with a team of designers and engineers on the standardization of design practices and procedures, QAQC, and current issues facing the design groupAn ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:Two-year technical degree in an applicable discipline plus eight years applicable experience OR 10 years of practical design experienceFive years of experience with large scope projectsExperience in performing system or project designs with only general technical supervision from engineering staffCapable of reading and interpreting plans from other disciplines (i.e., architectural, structural, civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical)SSR is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action EmployerEOE DisabilityVeteranOur mission is to make a positive difference for our clients, colleagues, and communitiesRecruiters or staffing agencies: SSR is not obligated to compensate any external recruiter or search firm who presents a candidate, their resume, or profile to an SSR employee without 1) a current, fully-executed agreement on file and 2) being assigned to the open position via HR Equal Opportunity EmployerProtected VeteransIndividuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
