Details Client NameThe Mount Sinai Hospital Job TypeTravel OfferingNon-Clinical ProfessionNon-Clinical SpecialtyPatient Greeter Job ID30929511 Job TitlePatient Coordinator I Weekly Pay$714.0 Shift Details ShiftDay - 8x5 - 08AM Scheduled Hours40 Job Order Details Start Date03312025 End Date06282025 Duration13 Week(s) Job DescriptionJob Title: Patient Coordinator I Job Specialty: Visitor Screening Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11 p.m. - 7 a.m., every other weekend & holidays; Training for the first 5 days: 3 p.m. - 11 p.m. Guaranteed Hours: 37.50 per week Experience: 1 year in a physician practice License: NA Certifications: NA Must-Have: - Customer service skills - Medical background - Administrative skills - Data entry skills - Surveying skills Job Description:- Greet patients in person or via telephone and update insurancedemographics in the practice management system. - Verify that the physician accepts the insurance presented by patients. - Ensure the patient's medical record is available for the physician by communicating with appropriate staff about the patient's arrival. - Process and update HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary. - Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required. - Regularly review the status of the waiting room and keep patients informed of wait times. - Ensure that the patient has paid the co-pay or collect the co-pay under the direction of billing staff, providing a receipt following established cash-control processes. - Schedule follow-up appointments as needed. - Provide patients with guidelines for requesting medical records, if necessary. - Perform simple charge entry tasks or enter payments collected from patients and prepare the Cashier's deposit. - Answer phones for practice and schedule appointments. - Follow all governmental or state agency requirements regarding the appropriate handling of PHI documents. - Initiate reminder phone calls for next-day appointments. - Perform other related duties as needed. Work Environment: - Requires manual dexterity for handling charts and using office equipment, especially a computer keyboard and calculator. - Must be able to stoop and bend to retrieve files and supplies and sit, stand, or move around for extended periods. - Able to photocopy insurance cards and move around the waiting room area to speak with patients. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: - Experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling. - Keyboarding skills. - IDX or other practice management system experience. - Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients. - Effective interpersonal and communication skills. - Excellent telephone etiquette. - Strong knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. - Adaptability to a growing and changing environment. Education: - High school graduate or GED equivalent. Languages: - English (Speak, Read, Write).
