Salary: $37,000.00 - $45,000.00 AnnuallyLocation : Little Learners Childcare - 700 Lakeview Parkway - Vernon Hills, ILJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 2021-00140Department: FULL TIME LLCCOpening Date: 11152024Closing Date: 3312025 4:18 PM Central Summary The Childcare Teacher, under the supervision of the Childcare Supervisor, will be responsible for directing all aspects of the classroom's program and executing the daily curriculum. The teacher will work towards providing a program that will foster children's social, intellectual, physical and emotional growth. Supervision Immediate Supervisor: Childcare Supervisor Qualifications The teacher must be 19 years of age, have 60 hours from an accredited college or university with 6 hours in ECC or meet DCFS teacher qualifications. Documentation of physical exam and TB skin test is required before beginning work along with current CPR and first aid certification (must be completed within the first 90 days of work). The teacher must have the ability to communicate in English both verbally and orally and be able to work cooperatively in a team environment. Essential Job Functions Will work with other teachers, assistant teachers and Childcare Coordinator cooperatively and as a team, sharing all necessary functions in the classroom.Provide a quality curriculum in the childcare program that takes into consideration the needs of each child and the goals and objectives of the District.Maintain at all times the confidentiality of the parents, their children and program operations.Provide a primary care giving environment and understand the importance of being a child's primary care giver.Be responsible for the safety and supervision of the children at all times. Understand and implement emergency procedures as necessary.Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that meet the individual and class needs.Be responsible for daily records keeping requirements.Set up portfolio file for each child that demonstrates the child's progress and maintain assessments within the portfolio.Supervise teacher assistants when required for program operation.Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings, a minimum of 15 hrs for DCFS.Attend parent conferences or parent-child events that related to the program.Support the childcare program, its goals and trainings.Assume equal share of housekeeping and kitchen duties to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment.Diaper change as needed following DCFS guidelines and requirements.Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude at all times.Maintain good attendance. Give the Childcare Coordinator & Childcare Manager a two-week notice on expected absences or requested time-off, submitting request of leave forms for all time off. Arrive for assigned shift well groomed and following the District dress code.Attendance at staff meetings and trainings is mandatory, unless approved by the Childcare Manager.Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers through oral and written communications.Respond to internal and external phone calls, e-mails, comments and suggestions in a timely manner.Promote District to patrons, guests and staff.Childcare Teachers who are DCFS qualified may be requested to act as the Director On- Duty in the absence of the Childcare Manager. The Director On- Duty will be responsible for responding to any communication initiated by DCFS. The Director On-Duty will also support the Childcare Coordinator as needed in the operation of the childcare facility and any emergency situations ensuring that all DCFS requirements are enforced.Perform other duties as assigned.SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and departmental-specific safety rules. Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and or moving objects 30 pounds or heavier. Reports any work-related or patron injuries to supervisor promptly. Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings. Corrects unsafe conditions andor reports them to supervisor. Exercise District's safety and risk management practices by following Risk Management Manual, Emergency Response Plan and OSHA Compliace Policies. PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS Must work closely with co-workers and the general public. Experiences ongoing concerns for all safety and liability issues. Must have ability to deal with other people and children under stressful situations. The Childcare Teacher may also have to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR are required.If offered the position, the applicant will be required to complete the District's Employment Application and successfully pass a physical examination, drug screening and criminal background check. PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS Lifting is occasional, usually 30 pounds or less. The supervisor may need to respond to situations quickly and accurately. Daily tasks may vary, but involve significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some climbing, balancing, and frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Exposure to a wide range of temperatures range from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. May need to dress children andor change diapers. Assist in preparing food for children and serve meals and refreshments. May need to instruct children in eating, resting and toilet habits. Ability to communicate directions effectively. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS May be exposed to all weather conditions. Most work is performed indoors. Time frame may differentiate due to parent tardiness, quantity of children, and family emergencies. Environment conditions may vary day to day.
