We offer competitive compensation, PTO and an employee discount for part-time employees. This is a morning shift.Job Purpose:To plan, teach and instruct girls and boys preschool and recreational gymnastics classes in a safe manner with a recreational focus.Essential Functions:Teaches recreational gymnastics classes to preschoolers aged 3 ½ to 5 and recreational students age 6 and upEvaluates participant skill progressMaintains equipment and gymnastics facilityPrepares and delivers class lesson plans with gymnastics program standardsSpots participants on gymnastics equipment and tumbling skillsProvides class leadershipAdditional Functions:Performs officeclerical tasks as necessaryPrepares incident and accident reportsPrepares and coaches teams for competition upon requestTeach parent and tot gymnastics classes for age 2-3 yearsTeach tumbling, trampoline, adult gymnastics, cheer and other gymnastics related programs upon requestLead gymnastics birthday partiesAssists with the monitoring of first aid supplies and equipment for gymnastics centerMaintains knowledge of and follows all Federal, State, Local and Park District safety regulationsMaintains a complete understanding of Park District emergency action planCommunicates any program deviations to immediate supervisor and customer service staffAvailable nights and weekends as neededAttends staff meetings as needed or requestedPerforms other projects as assignedKnowledge, Skill and Work Experience Required: Must be at least 16 years of age, or 15 with a valid worker's permitCertification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.Ability to work with and instruct childrenAbility to multi-task workloadCustomer service focusOral and written communication skillsOrganization and interpersonal skillsPlanning and problem solving skillsAbility to respond to problems or stressful situations at all times and with good judgment and accuracyAbility to follow directions and work with limited supervisionAbility to convey a favorable Park District image with the media, partner organizations, and the publicAbility to work effectively with entire District staff, works with a variety of people and personalities, and maintains a positive working relationship with other employeesEstablishes and maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct Recommended:At least 1 year of gymnastics coaching experience preferredFormer gymnast willing to train and learnKnowledge and experience in Microsoft office applications Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations:Frequently standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, running, and walkingOccasionally SittingStrength Work requires the ability to move and lift medium to heavy weight (up to 50 lbs. over 50 lbs with assistance)Other requirements may include talking, hearing, and seeing to perform the following necessary duties: Teaching programs and supervising students, operating office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and telephones Normal gym conditions for majority of work.
